Hi everyone, I would share my experience of reentering Thailand from Cambodia. I just arrived in Phnom Penh a few days ago from BKK by plane, and applying Visa and preparing to come back Thailand.

What do you need before departure from Bangkok to Cambodia?

1. Air ticket, single way is fine.

2. Hotel booking, just a few days is fine, copy the reservation. I booked 3 days.

3. Cambodia E-visa, just apply on line (www.evisa.gov.kh) and you'll get it via email within 3 working days. 36 US dollars. You must copy E-visa.

4. Vaccined proof, either certificate or vaccine passport is fine, but you must copy.

5. Before your departure at BKK airport, you must do PCR test within 72 hour. I went here : www.medconsultasia.com

1500 Baht per person, they give you result in 8 hours and send result to your Email, so you don't need go to the clinic again to pick up. Just (MUST)print out the result from your Email.

Advise all documents have 2 copies each, with original documents together.

6. They will give you PCR test after customs stamp when arrive in Cambodia(I landed on Phnom Penh),

but don't need to pay anything, just sit there and wait for result, it needs about 20 or 30 minutes for waiting result, then they will tell you that you are free to go.

There are some tip boxes on the PCR test desks and they wish you pay some tip but you don't have to do that. Some customs staffs might ask you(especially if you are Chinese) for tips as well, you just ignore and say no. I said no to all of them and there is nothing wrong with my customs stamp and PCR test in Phnom Penh airport.

When take a taxi from Phnom airport to city, you better have a check online with information, airport staffs might work with taxi drivers together and they might quote 9 or 8 US dollars to city. I bargained with a Tutu car and paid him 4 dollars. You can use Grab to book a car or Tutu car in Phnom Penh airport as well.

Phnom Penh is not super clean and well organized city, but I heard that Siem Reap is very clean and well organized place.

-----------------------------------------------------

From Cambodia to Thailand, I haven't done but I'm preparing. What below is what I know.

1. You must go to Thai embassy in Cambodia to apply Thai Tourist Visa, 40 dollars. No online applying. Here's details: [members only]

So you need: 2 profile pictures; Booking copy of double trips tickets (in and out Thailand), you can choose a real return flight and pay but can cancel with full refund; 1000 US dollars on bank account proof; Fill the form which you can get from Embassy.

Application time: 9AM to 10 AM only from Monday to Friday. You can get result of Visa within 3 working days.

But, if you hold CHINESE PASSPORT, then you must stay in Cambodia longer than 6 months and then you can apply Thai Tourist Visa and get result of visa from Thai Embassy within 3 working days. If you live in Cambodia less than 6 months and apply Thai Tourist Visa then you can get result of from Thai Embassy about one month and half later. This is for Chinese Passport holders only and I'm quite sure, as I'm meeting this problem right now.

2. After you get Visa, then you can apply Thai Pass online. You MUST apply Thai Pass to enter Thailand.

You must buy covid insurance.

You need PCR test within 72 hours before departure at airport in Cambodia.

You must choose one night (the first night) hotel from the list on SHA extra +, when you arrive at Thailand, the hotel should come to pick you up at airport and they will give you PCR test at hotel and you must stay in the hotel until the next day they have result of PCR test.

I think all details of requirement above will be showed when you apply Thai Pass online, just follow the guide.

1. This post and information might be outdated, some policies might be changed already. I HEARD of that Cambodia government announced that they will not need any PCR tests and vaccinated proof and insurance from 1st April, not at all. Board will be open just as same as before the Covid. I mean I heard it. You must find out by yourself if you need.

2. If you hold Chinese passport and apply Thai Tourist Visa in Thai Embassy in Cambodia, you must wait at least one month, this is FOR SURE. Waiting for one month, this is only for Chinese passport and Taiwan passport.

3. Please don't message me and ask me which flights can be freely cancel, the policy of flights are always changeable due to date and class and some other situations, you must check online and find out by yourself if need. My flight could be cancelled one month ago but it doesn't mean the same flight can be cancelled tomorrow.

Really appreciate it that all comments and likes.

Maybe no need for a PCR to return to BKK!

Someone else posted on another group about similar experience. However, he only spent one night in Phnom Penh and returned next morning to BKK

He probably didn't apply Thai Tourist Visa in Thai Embassy in Cambodia, just reentered Thailand within 72 hours and got a stamp of Visa On Arrival.

@Johnny ****
you are correct...I believe he re-entered with exception

Only if you can return within 72 hours, but normally it needs about 3 working days to apply Thai Tourist Visa in Cambodia.

Does the insurance we get buying a ticket via credit card enough? Also have medicos insurance from discovery is this enough ? Or is this insurance needed without exception ? From South Africa ?
Garrett ***********
@Jan***
The insurance provider needs to issue you a certificate stating your covered in Thailand for covid. If whoever your credit card uses to provide insurance will do that then you can use them.
Johnny *****
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Janine *************
You need the insurance which covers Covid, and coverage period is as long as how long you get stay in Thailand due to visa, if you get 60 days visa then coverage period should be 60 days at least.
Jamie *********
Did you arrive in Cambodia on 1 way ticket or 2 way ?

@Eric *****
Hi, Under recommendation from a good well travelled friend, I read this in World Nomad and the reviews were all very positive, so I booked with this Onward Flight Booking Agency and happy to report that even after the Hong Kong Boarding Agent double checked my booking on her IATA Computer, needless to say I was a bit nervous, but ended up being quite please to receive a big smile and her comments were absolute gold: "Everything is good... Have a nice trip Sir!" Hope this helps.

Valid for 48 hours? So if you aply for visa, thai pass and show up at the airport and immi in thailand 48hours are gone. Problems?
Native ****************
@Marc ******
If I remember correctly, they offer a 10 day ticket and with a simple email request, a 21 day ticket at no extra charge which is the one that I opted for. Hope this helps
Marc *******
@Native ***************
Yep, i had e mail contact. Thx anyway.
Robert *********
Did you change into local money , you had thai bahy or you used dollars ?
Johnny *****
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Robert ********
Both US dollars and local currency Riel work well here. You can withdraw from ATM with your bank card, it offers both Dollars and Riel on ATM. There are some (not really many like HK) exchange shops in the city and airport as well. So generally currency is not a problem at all here.
Marc *******
Thank you
Kay ***********
Please update again if there is any further movement.

But, you gonna stay there for about 45 days and waiting the visa to be processed. Long waiting time and big spending with accommodation. Good Luck !

Great guy! Do you need to convert the e-visa to an E visa (ordinary visa) for a stay longer than 1M to wait for the Thai TR visa?
Johnny *****

@Will *****
You mean in Cambodia, yes, I need extend another month in Cambodia, but it's easy to find an agent to extend, about 55 dollars.

@Johnny ****
Thank you, Jin! Good luck!

@Johnny ****
However, before you travel to Cambodia you didn't know this, otherwise you may make different decision though.

It's not make sense, what's the different between stay longer than 180 days and shorter than 180 days, and this not apply to other nationalities.

Just remind that if you hold Chinese passport then you must wait one month and half for visa after you deliver documents to Thai Embassy in Cambodia. Not sure if there's something different with Thai Embassy in Sri Lanka and Philippines.

Wondering why they ask for 1000 US dollar in your bank account.They never asked me when I arrive from Europe.
Johnny *****

@Oscar *******
It should be that every Thai Embassy in every different place(country) has different policy to apply Thai Visa, I think now everyone no matter where you are from but if you apply Thai visa in Thailand Embassy in Cambodia, then you need proof of 1000 US dollars. I guess there's no need economic proof if apply in some other countries like Japan, UK, Germany...
Max ********
I'm interesting to know how about bank proof. Can I show them internet banking proof?

Print the bank account page which show the balance, and print the statement. That's all.
