(Repost for clarity) I saw online that some people applied for a DTV on the evisa website while being in their home country but couldn't get their visa on time and then entered Thailand on a 60-day exemption stamp. Then while in Thailand their visa got approved and they just exited the country and re-entered to activate their visa. Won't the immigration officer check the visa date of issue? Anyone went through this process ?

Just for info as people quite often ask. Just come through Heathrow for my Eva Air flight. At checking they were looking at my visa which is a retirement visa so no problem. But I suspect If you do not have a visa, of proof of onward travel you will be denied by Eva Air.

Previously, I have flown into Thailand and received visa exempt stamps which I have extended with ease at IT Square Laksi. I never needed a TM6 or TM30 to do the extension of an exemption stamp.

However, my most recent entry was a land entry using a 60 day tourist visa obtained in Penang. This time I received a TM6 on entry, which I assume I'll need to take to do the 30 day extension.

Can I also confirm whether or not I'll also need the TM30 this time at the Chaengwattana immigration?

Hello and thanks for having me in this forum. I searched posts here and so hope this isn’t too much of a repeat. I am a US citizen recently turned 50 coming to Thailand on the 45 day exemption stamp. I am going to apply for a non-immigrant O visa when I arrive once I open my bank account and secure a long term rental. I am wondering what others in a similar situation have found applying for the visa if there are any caveats or things I should be aware of to avoid having my application denied. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi everyone! I'm a little confused as to what visa, if any I can apply for to stay up to 90 days.

I've already been to Thailand this year twice however this time I am coming from Turkey (holiday) and I'd like to stay in Thailand for longer. It seems I need to apply before I enter but I'm not in my home country (Australia).

Sorry if this sounds silly, but the more I read the more confused I seem to have become lol. Is it better just to get an exemption stamp and extend? Or is that only a max of 2 months? Thanks so much in advance!

Fully vaccinated.

Intend on applying for long stay visa.

Meet requirements. Fully vaccinated

1. Return ticket or one-way? Pros / cons? Different airline than original flight or?

2. How long after I arrive in Thailand can I apply for long stay visa?

3. I can extend my exemption stamp one time, correct?

Trying to get it straight in my head. 😀. So much conflicting advice / opinions.

I'm planning to go the immigration tomorrow to extend my exemption stamp. I'm in Bangkok. Could you please tell me 1. if the required documents are still the same (photo, copy of passport, copy of previous stamps, relevant form), 2. Is it Chaengwattana office that manage exemptions?, 3. Is it still possible to have a copy if my passport done at place (if the photocopy points are open)?

I recently renewed my passport at the US Embassy. I received my new passport in the mail with a letter requesting Thai immigration to transfer my single entry tourist visa to my passport.

I just read a post from someone who went to Thai immigration for this purpose and the Thai immigration officer said it wasn't necessary to transfer the stamp (unlike me, he had an exemption stamp not a visa) to the new passport and that he should simply present both his old and new passports at the border and there would be no problem.

Are they likely to say the same to me? Or maybe this is one of those issues that's up to the discretion if the imm officer?

I need to leave Thailand to cancel my ED visa, and then re-enter on an exemption stamp and apply for a new passport (it's full).

I was thinking of riding my motorcycle from Chiang Mai to Mae Sai/Tachileik to accomplish this as I'm sick of planes. I have heard of the border guards holding passports and of course limitation to Tachileik town.

If I cross at this border station will I get my official stamp out and then new Thai 30 exemption stamp in?

Applying for a METV here in Germany, however I will enter and stay only 3 days on my first entry. I will put 3 days on the METV and have a hotel reservation for 3 days. Are they still going to accept it considering I could enter on excemption stamp?

Note aside, the embassy told me an METV can have a maximum of 4 entries in 6 months. Is this a thing? I haven't read this anywhere before.
