Yes it's possible but it felt very sketchy. I flew from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh and back to get a new tourist exempt stamp while waiting for my new passport to arrive to Thailand. I used a ET passport from the British consulate to do it. Got stopped at immigration both ways but after explaining the situation, I was let in.
so in your opinion it is not worth applying for the tourist visa instead of an exemption considering my travel history? It would not influence the immigration officers decision at all? Thanks for the reply
Fixed! Got an emergency passport and flown to Vietnam for a few days then return to Thailand. Immigration will give me a new entry stamp into my emergency document. British Embassy Bangkok gave me an assistance letter. Thanks for your help everyone 👏
Update: contacted multiple border run companies and all said its impossible with less than 6 months. Looks like my only option is overstaying until new passport arrives or going back to the UK (but my passport is in the process of being delivered to thailand) 🤦♂️
