Hello and thanks for having me in this forum. I searched posts here and so hope this isn’t too much of a repeat. I am a US citizen recently turned 50 coming to Thailand on the 45 day exemption stamp. I am going to apply for a non-immigrant O visa when I arrive once I open my bank account and secure a long term rental. I am wondering what others in a similar situation have found applying for the visa if there are any caveats or things I should be aware of to avoid having my application denied. Any suggestions are appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen, recently turned 50, seeks advice on obtaining a Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand after the initial 45-day exemption stamp. Key concerns include understanding application requirements and tips to avoid denial. Community members suggest checking specific local immigration requirements and the need for a valid reason for the visa, such as retirement.

If you want to apply for an initial Non-O based on retirement inside Thailand, you need to have
*****
days depending on the local immigration office with your current stamp. It's totally up to how you sort yourself in Thailand quickly if 45 days + 30 days tourism extension is enough or not.

You may or may not try dozens of bank branches to open your bank account while you are on tourist status, the first branch may let you open., etc.

Unfortunately, others' experiences have nothing to do with your application.

You need to go to the local immigration office to get the latest and office-specific requirements handout when you arrive in Thailand.

Here is the 'general' information for in-country Non-O based on retirement for just reference.
