I will need to transfer funds to one account to show for the 500 Thb but I will need to send it back to my other accounts the following day. Would I be able to do this if I get the statement showing 500thb on the day it was deposited or does the money need to stay in my account for a certain amount of time. Also, what is the best document to show for the funds? Is a downloaded pdf of my Bank statement?

Wise question please. I have two bank accounts registered in WISE. I have uploaded funds to WISE from one of them and now want to transfer to the other account from WISE for the first time. Is there some simple way to do this? WISE doesn’t seem to offer me this option and it seems I need to enter in all the information again for my other account, which is already registered in the app. Thanks

Hi all. I'll be coming back to Thailand next month and will probably settle in Chiang Mai and apply for 12 month extension on a non-O retirement visa (which I've been issued by Thai embassy here in Oz).

Curious about people's experience transferring the 800k baht into their Thai bank account. Any dramas doing that from Australia? Any preferences for whom to bank with in Thailand? I read somewhere that some banks have 50k baht limit on transfers, presumably as an aniti-money-laundering measure, or similar? I read that Bangkok Bank, SCB and Kasikorn do not have this limit. Is one of those preferred? Any big diffs in online banking capabilities between them?

Will this process work for an extension of stay based on retirement?

1) Enter Thailand on a visa exempt

2) open a new bank account. I have an existing one but use it multiple times a day to ‘scan’ etc and would like a new clean bank account for visa purposes

3) transfer 800k baht via wise to the new account using the ‘long term funds…’ option

4) apply for non o at immigration. how early can I apply for this? Is a TR visa obtained outside Thailand a better option than visa exempt?

I will be retiring to Thailand next month. How is it best to transfer funds from a UK bank...Barclay..to a Thai bank account whilst in Thailand. My phone app doesn't offer the Thai baht as a currency to transfer..and I am not sure if I would be able to access my bank account online by computer. Is it best to go through an agency to transfer money ? What to do for the best. Any advice appreciated.

I’m on my second year extension non-O , retirement using the 800,000 banking method . Question my local branch bank where I do extensions in Pai Maehongson is closing . Has anyone had a problem transferring to a different bank as far as the 12 months statements go ? I’d prefer to keep my account with Krungsri but it would mean having to go to Chiang Mai to get bank statements when I go to do extension in 2022 . I have until April 26th when they close here to decide what to do

Many thanks

Okay, these were the unrelated things that popped up on another thread so let's address them

[Emyr Owen Roberts]([members only])

The 400,000 baht does not have to be deposited from a foreign bank/country.

[Dave Kerr]([members only])

This gets more complicated by the day! So for the initial Marriage Visa you need 400k in Thai account for 2 months. Then for every month after you must transfer 40k into it every month if you want to do a renewal?

Robert or Tod, I believe I have given the correct answer to this poster, but please clarify. The discussion on another page was around best way to transfer funds here monthly to meet the 65,000 minimum. one poster indicated this:

"I got to ATM get my money and deposit in bkk bank. Showed paper work to immigration and they where OK with that."

That, of course contradicts do many discussions you both have made here, but maybe I have misunderstood. Is it possible to withdraw funds from my US bank at an atm here, then deposit them to my Thai bkk bank acct, and have CM immigration accept them in my extension renewal of my retirement visa??

thanks for any clarification

My husband and I are looking to retire in Thailand this year. We currently live in South Africa. We would appreciate info on the Visa that we should apply for, how to open a Thai bank account and the best way to move funds into the account. If the 800 000 THB for both of us is in the account do we still need to provide proof of monthly earnings ? Are we ever able to officially immigrate to Thailand. Looking forward to the feedback. Thank you Kevin and Annette Dolby
