I am married in America to my Thai wife. We want to travel back to Thailand. Does our marriage certificate need to be translated to Thai or need any special certification? I am also concerned about health insurance for someone 80 years old. We do own property in Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling to Thailand with a Thai spouse, it's essential to translate your marriage certificate into Thai and have it certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) if married in the USA. Additionally, registration of the marriage at the local Amphur office is advised. While health insurance is not required for visa extensions for married couples, options for covering elderly individuals, such as those over 80, may be more limited.

First it has to be certified true by the embassy of the country marriage was performed in, along with your passports, then the Thai ministry of foreign affairs will certify it as a true document and then it's translated, then you go to the ampor and register the marriage.

Hi. My wife (Thai) and I (UK) have been married for almost 20 years but have lived mainly in Singapore and Malaysia. We were married in Singapore and our marriage is not registered in Thailand. I understand that it requires registration at the Amphur office that my wife's Tambian Ban is under. Our marriage certificate is in English so I had a translation into Thai made, this was then endorsed by the Royal Thai Embassy here in Singapore.

You need your marriage cert translated into Thai and certified by the MFA if you married in the States. You dont need insuarance for a married visa/extention of stay. Cant help with the over 80's insurance thing. You could try Arawan Namak
