As part of the visa application, they asked for a HD digitized photo, is this an ID photo that I have to scan in HD? Where is a link, a file that I have to forward with my visa application?

Another question, I have to provide an insurance certificate for my OA visa with a cover of 3000000 Baths. What kind of insurance would you recommend, with good value for money?

Thank you for your advice.

Once the 800k is in the account 2 months before A-O visa is there a minimum amount of days it needs to be untouched? How much must always remain in the account, 400k? And when should it be refilled up to 800k, 2 months before renewal? Also, can the A-O be renewed in Thailand or only in my home country from where I received the A-O visa? One of the mandatory documents is a full year insurance coverage, correct?

I am applying for a Non Imm O-A long stay visa in the UK. I need the cheapest Insurance policy available to meet the visa guidelines. I am 63 years old. Can anyone recommend a cheap policy provider? It needs to be a Thai insurer as the embassy has already knocked me back with a UK provider.

Thanks

Today I got my 10 year Long Term Resident visa, (LTR) for wealthy pensioners (I hate the “wealthy” label for obvious reasons). Here is what the process was like for me:

First I renewed my insurance and received the certificate. I applied on 4, Oct 2022. I applied online in Thailand. The website is very informative and the application process for me was very simple. I have had an OA visa and had qualifying insurance already. I uploaded my passport bio page, insurance certificate, and my latest US tax return. I entered the amount of my work pension and US Social Security. They did not ask for documents from my sources of income but the did have my tax return.

They initially advertised that your application would be processed in 20 working days. In my case my application was pending for 59 days. On 2 December the application status was changed to processing. They asked for additional photos of my passport. Eventually I gave them photos of the page with my last entry into Thailand, Sep 2019, and every page after that, my TM6 (front & back), and my most recent 90-day report, all in one PDF file. My application was approved on 22, Dec 2022 (now 79 days). They did not ask for additional financial documents. I made an appointment at Chamchuri Square Bldg, Bangkok. (93 days).

Note: Do not block pop-ups on your computer. You need to unblock pop-ups to use the site after you are approved.

They did not ask me for additional financial documents. My income is very simple, a pension check deposit and a Social Security deposit verified by my tax return. I can’t say what they will ask for if your income is more complicated than this.

The office for the LTR visas is very nice and quiet. The staff spoke English and were very helpful and efficient. I had an appointment for 10am. I arrived at 9am and they started processing my documents right away. I was finished just before 11am. They did ask for a photo and then later another photo was taken. They have computer terminals in the office. They asked me to log into my LTR account and additional documents were downloaded and printed.

You pay the 50,000 using a QR code. No cash.

Some questions answered:

* No money required in the bank anymore. No 800,000 baht deposit.

* I renew my insurance in November but I don’t have to inform them

* I do not have to do 90 day reports but if I remain in Thailand one full year then I have to check in with the LTR office at 1 year.

* I do not need a re-entry permit if I travel abroad.

* When I return from abroad I use the fast-track immigration lane.

* I must reapply in 5 years but there is no 50,000 baht fee.

* They only stamped me in until 2024 because that is when my passport expires. When I get a new passport I come back to the LTR office.

Please don’t complain that the visa is for rich people. It is what it is.

I am not try to convince anyone to apply for the visa. I am just describing my experience for this new visa. I have not seen much information posted in this group.

I’ve had an OA visa for 6 years and I have been extending it myself in Bangkok. I am fully aware of the differences between the OA and the LTR and I chose to get an LTR. My choice. Let it go.

I would like to apply for a non-O e-Visa based on being over 50 (Los Angeles) and have a couple of questions. First, does anyone have an estimate for how long that usually takes to be processed? Second, is it necessary to purchase a flight before applying? I ask the latter because I would prefer to apply now even though I don't plan to go to Thailand until possibly as late as mid October and since I don't know exactly when I prefer to wait to book a flight. If you're wondering (quite reasonably) why I don't just wait until I know when I can go, that depends on the answer to the first question. If it is a long process, I may not be in a place where I can easily apply online with all the documentation I need. I guess a third, related question, is what happens if you apply for a visa with one flight's details and then change your flight?

Hi all hoping to go to Thailand again this November on O/A multi entry l year. Based in the UK l was told on the grapevine the as well as the listed requirements, l would also have to give flight details and compulsory 12 month insurance is this the case or not if yes is there anything else l would need to do. Would l be required to send any documents ie passport at any stage to Thai UK embassy. If successful granted what is the time scale l would have to use as l say planning to go middle November. Thanks for any advice

I'm trying to fill out the application for a non O visa (for retirement), not easy. Date of arrival in Thailand – do I just estimate given that the visa will be valid for 90 days once issued? Travelling by and Flight no – also do I estimate? Is retirement classed as tourism? Name and address of local guarantor – who is this? Countries for which passport is valid? World? The Embassy's covering letter also requests insurance for duration of stay which will be 90 days, or will it? as the visa is for 60 days renewable in-country. And start date of insurance? Should I book a one way ticket? Also, how long does it normally take an embassy to process the visa? Sorry for all the questions and many thanks in advance

We dont have 2 weeks we leave the 19th of April and need to submit our Visa. Is it possible to get an insurance and change it at some point when we get to Thailand? Does anyone have any ideas?

I want to thank everyone for their posts. I am in USA, and just received back my passport with a Non-O/A over 50 visa in it. I will give a quick overview, thanks to those who said avoid Chicago Consulate, I did the E-Visa and selected to send documents to the Washington DC Embassy. Everything went smoothly until payment, the E-Visa system is set up to take only debit cards, or credit cards that allow debit. Make sure you submit documents as stated. It took exactly 15 days from submitting documents till I got passport back. A Shout out to Robert Jackson with AXA insurance, and yes the Sawasdee 365 days insurance covers both the visa requirements and Covid insurance for COE. Thanks everyone for your voices and sharing info.
