TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around visa medical coverage requirements in Thailand, specifically for OA and Non-O visas. It clarifies that OA and OX visas necessitate medical insurance, while Non-O visas do not. One participant shares their experience with TriCare, stating that while they hold a Non-O visa that doesn't require insurance, they acquired coverage for added security. They also mention obtaining a letter from TriCare indicating no coverage limits. Others express uncertainty regarding the requirement for a 'Foreign Insurance Certificate' and recommend joining a support group for more specific guidance.

Did you have to get a “Foreign Insurance Certificate”? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but as usual, I’m overwhelmed by the lack of clear instructions from Immigration. Thank you for your discourse.

@Jul***
. I’ve got the letter from Tricare that is needed for an OA. I requested it earlier last year before I arrived in Thailand. The visa I have (non O) doesn’t require it, but just an extra layer of protection if things changed. Basically it states “There are no coverage

limits for TRICARE covered services, such coverage could exceed $100,000.”I’m on a Non-O, and have it, but don’t need it. I suggest posting in the Tricare in Thailand group…you will get specific answers about the letter from those that are here on an OA visa.

What TriCare Office issued the letter? OSO in Singapore?

if you go to the TRICARE site you can print out proof of coverage but like I said earlier, they usually want to amounts of coverage. Try it anyway and see if it works. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I am applying for the same VISA (over 50 have Thai wife and daughter) and the the D.C. Thai Embasy is asking me for “Health Insurance Coverage requirments of no less than 40,000baht and inpatient treatment of no less than 400,000.). When and where did you do your initial entry O-A VISA?

the thing is the letter has to specify the exact dollar amount for inpatient and outpatient care. If the letter states that then it should be sufficient.

I entered on visa exempt, extended the exempt stamp for 30 days, applied for Non O during the 30 day extension and received my Non O about 6 weeks after the initial visa exempt arrival. I do not have an OA. I'm on a Non O. You apply for Non O in Thailand, and you apply for a OA in your country. Non O doesn't have health insurance or police clearance requirements, but requires 800k THB seasoned in bank for 3 months. I did not need the Tricare letter, but I asked for it as an extra 'just in case' problem. I sent you a PM.

An OA or OX visas needs medical insurance coverage. Other visas don’t. Sorry no clue on what TriCare is.
