Happy to share that I received my LTR-P visa by email yesterday. It was a fairly simple process which did not need any Visa agency help. I am grateful to many in this group for providing guidance and helpful tips. Here is the timeline for my application:

April 23, 2025- Online application submitted to BOI with income and asset documents

April 28, 2025- Additional income documents requested by BOI. Had to submit the 2024 Form 1099 to support the income reported in 2024 tax return. Since I do not have any pension income, I was also asked to provide my investment portfolio which generated the passive income

April 29, 2025- Additional asset documents requested by BOI to verify liquid assets of $100K. The funds in Fidelity money market account was not acceptable

May 15, 2025- I submitted AXA insurance policy to avoid prolonged correspondences to prove that funds in Fidelity money market funds were fully liquid

May 29, 2025- Received email confirming my qualification endorsement

June 4, 2025- Received the qualification endorsement letter which was to be included with e-visa application

June 7, 2025- Applied online for e-Visa at Thai Embassy in Washington DC

June 11, 2025- Visa approval email received with e-Visa attached

Congratulations

I submitted mine couple of weeks ago through VFS online and now in the exact stage of insurance or 1 yr bank deposit after many document requirements. I will send the fixed deposit option and see how it goes . If there is a delay or a problem , I will do the insurance . Good luck and enjoy your time there .

Hello
@Ba***
, $100K has to be in a savings account with a Bank for 12 months. Any other form of asset even if fully liquid is not accepted. Getting an insurance policy with maximum deductible wasn’t expensive. I paid less than $200 for it and it resolved the issue.

@Bipin ******
I will say this. Mine was not, and never has been in a savings account. Approved

I guess it is at the whims of reviewer assigned to our case πŸ˜†

some people feel compelled to do so. But they don’t β€˜test’ the system. But there is room to maneuver

You are right,
@To**
! I chose the path of least resistance as it was easier to get the insurance which cost me less than $200 πŸ˜†

@Bipin ******
that's a good pathway! I took screen shots of my investment account on my phone. Cost $0 and took maybe 30 mins to do it 12 times lol

Thanks Bipin

AXA quoted about 800$ for max deduction .. do you think I go for it instead of the β€œdeposit” and does requesting to upload the insurance is a sign of application approval ?

@Ba***
, please get an online quote instead of going thru agent

It is online directly from AXA. But I may have age disadvantages 😁

Thank you for sharing

If only insurance is being asked, I would presume that they have accepted that your income is over $80K. Once you submit the insurance, qualification endorsement will take about 10 business days

Congrats, careful posting your entire visa info. With the sensitive area blocked you can still see your personal info using special filter editing tools such as removing the noise etc. Your info easily shows, just giving you a friendly heads up to revise your post.

Make sure you download the pdf and keep it in a safe place, like google drive or something similar. That way you can re-print it as often as necessary for 10 years. Then print it, and keep it with your passport. You'll need the e-visa printout to use the Fast Track at the airport. Avoid going to the regular immigration lines at the major airports and always go to the Fast Track, as normal immigration officers will scratch their head at an LTR and it will take you a long time to get through.

Also, whenever I tell the officers guarding the Fast Track line I have an LTR, they just look at me confused. I find telling them BOI seems to work much better. Congrats on getting one of the best visas available!

It indeed is one of the best visa for Thailand, yet. Then again, the DTV effectively provides almost the same at a fraction of the cost. Not saying that 50k isn't okay to pay. I am ok going for a trip at least twice a year. The tax exemption of the LTR seems nice, but does not really affect anybody on other visa at this point. My bank account is luckily still open. Is there any other advantage other than "fast track" which I used to get traveling Business Class anyways? I have not been keeping up with latest developments for a while.

No 90 day reporting, only have to report once per year. Don't have to do border bounces, so the amount of money saved on that alone makes it cheaper than any other visa when you count that retirement visas would have to pay 1900 baht for a yearly extension plus 4800 per year for a multiple re-entry permit to match the same capabilities, and still have 90 day reporting and don't have fast track. What's the cheapest you can do a border bounce for? Maybe if you use a bus you can do it on the cheap, but for DTV most people will be doing it 2 times per year, or at minimum once per year if they do an extension. So that's 1900+??? x10. You're going to be getting close if not over 50,000.

Got it. Makes sense for people actually planning to reside in Thailand without leaving much in between. As for me, work and life keeps me traveling abroad enough without ever having to do an explicit border bounce (or even 90 day report for that matter). I will give switching to LTR another go should the taxation issue become more relevant.
