Hello.

I need to buy 1-year health insurance policy for issuing LTR visa - "with coverage for hospitalization treatment of no less than 50,000 USD".

My travel insurance certificate was declined, could you please suggest any good companies to acquire suitable certificate?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking a health insurance policy that meets the LTR visa requirements of at least $50,000 coverage for hospitalization treatment. After an unsuccessful attempt with a travel insurance certificate, several commenters suggest various health insurance providers like Axa and Pacific Cross, and mention consulting local brokers for ready LTR plans. It's also noted that showing $100,000 in assets could negate the need for insurance. There's discussion on related visas like the OX visa and opinions about the best strategies for fulfilling visa requirements.

I'm not sure *travel* insurance will cover you for living somewhere on a non-tourist visa. Call and check with the insurer you choose, explaining the visa, (in the event of a big claim you can be sure the insurer will look into this before paying). You probably need expat health insurance for living somewhere. If you ever need to claim, they might just have done you a big favour.

Well it's 5+5 years, up there with the Elite Visa (although us Aussies already consider ourselves pretty elite anyway 🤣). The insurance is a pain, but

s has found a cheapish one that'll tick the box, although I'll still carry my 12-month credit card insurance. But it beats the shit out of transferring money to Thailand and having to park it here.

sure does. And LTR now makes Elite the poor man’s LTR.

Too many boxes on that one! I go for the simple life. If I can deal directly with the Sydney Consulate (the best on the planet trust me), I'm happy.

no boxes. 80k income. And 100k in the bank. And direct deal with the office in BKK , not immigration. No 90 day.

Shipping money into Thailand is my biggest problem, which the LTR calls for. 90 day report now it's online is easy, 30 seconds. It's all what suits each individual, and the OX is great for me because I can leave my dosh in Aus getting good returns. But if it works for you it's great!

agree, but LTR required NO money into Thailand.

the Aussie O-X allowing you to keep the 3M baht equivalent in Aus is great. Not the same for Canadians unfortunately

That's the winner. And only through the Sydney consulate. Canberra doesn't have that one. Strange anomaly, but Sydney always has "gone it alone"

wow. Very interesting. I checked our RTE and the consulates just in case. That would be the way to go.

On O-X is it unlimited re-entry?

Yes it's multi-entry for five years.

is the guy to talk to, he's actually on the OX and he's a FIFO guy, so he's in and out all the time (and I'm not talking about his sex life either! 🤣)

Axa. Check with a local broker, some already have pre-made LTR plans available. You can also simply show $100k in assets in a bank somewhere for last 12 months and not bother with the insurance

not for applying for OA or OX in Australia, you must supply proof of insurance or you don’t get the visa

it is cheaper to get 5 or 10 years O-X. But does that not require bringing the money into Thailand? And criminal record check. And medical etc

sadly that option appears only available to Australians. But good on ya. Canada RTE has same wording as within Thailand. The amount must be here in Thailand. So LTR it is 🙂 But no insurance requirement, no criminal record check, no 90 day check in, fast track at airport, and multiple entry. So it's still a lot more expensive (50k vs 10k) but has a few advantages.

12 easily available monthly statements seems more simply than chasing down the insurance. Seems likely that most people qualifying for LTR have that sitting around somewhere

probably because many travel insurance policy do not cover for 1 year of stay in one country. My policys always said either 60 or 90 days per trip even though it was a annual policy.
