So i am a little confused when applying for the non o visa on the thai e visa website, some have said that you do not need the health insurance for the non o (90 days) but when you pick the sub category (1 year extention ) retirement you need it . I thought you can go into thailand on the non o and do everything there within 90 days to get your non oa . So the wyestion is do i need the health insurance when applying for the 90 days non o or not.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The majority of comments indicate that health insurance is not required when applying for the 90-day Non-O visa (for retirement). However, there have been exceptions noted in certain cases (e.g., applications from New Zealand and the UK) where additional documentation including health insurance was requested. It is important to carefully select the correct visa category when applying online, as requirements may vary by location and specific circumstances.

@Tony *******
it says these insurance companies are for the OX and OA visas not O, or did I miss something?
Tony ********
@Stuart **********
OX and OA Visas are now under the one umbrella of a O visa.
Stuart ***********
@Tony *******
maybe so, but they are different to the O visa.
Tony ********
@Stuart **********
still classed as a O visa. Immigration will have the information on the computer to know which stamp to give you. Again this information was given to me by my lawyer who spoke with immigration. These changes are only new.
Stuart ***********
@Tony *******
I have not seen any announcements about changes to these visa and this would be a significant change that would have been discussed endlessly, so I would question what your lawyer is telling you.
Tony ********
@Stuart **********
changes happen all the time here in Thailand without large fanfare. The lawyer I use personally works for corporate companies here in BKK. I have provided you with information. If don’t want to believe it that is up to you. Good luck with your application.

OK thank you!

@Tony *******
I tried looking online at the visa system for Aus and it still seems to give the option of a non-O without insurance, have you tried to do it yourself already without using a lawyer?
Tony ********
@Stuart **********
yes unfortunately the website hasn’t been updated. The documents I shared came from the Australian Thai embassy. My lawyer requested the documents.
Tony ********
Dave ********
The non O visa does NOT require health insurance. The non OA visa DOES require health insurance. They are two completely separate visas.
Pete *******
No you do not require health insurance for the Non-O visa. Your mistake is that you have clicked on the wrong category of visa when using the e-visa system.
Jason ******
The Uk E-visa does not ask for insurance on the Non O - 90 days retirement , this is why I went for that one, if you want the yearly one you need insurance + medical + police check , you do not need any of these if your just getting the 90 days non O retirement, `when you get to Thaialnd you then extend to one year, what I need for that, I dont know yet , I do know you need 800k in thai bank , letter or contract of residence .Thai phone number in same residence address and TM30 also being same residence address, UK embassy in BKK to verify your letter of residence with a stamp . After that I got to find out the next stages for the year extension, thats as far as I got for now .
Sean **********
@Jason *****
not sure what this is about.

“UK embassy in BKK to verify your letter of residence with a stamp”? I have never heard of this and don’t see why Thai immigration would need another countries certification of your address. You will take you lease agreement, TM-30 from the owner, copy of the owners Blue Book and copy of the owners Thai ID to Thai immigration to receive the Thai ‘certificate of residence for opening a bank account’

The other items you mentioned all appear correct. For the extension you will need some additional documents.

- bank certificate of foeign funds deposited for 60+ days

- location map of your residence

- copies of your passport and Thai visa pages

Check the Thai immigration website for a list of

some banks may ask for the proof of residence stamped buy embassy for verification. I am just saying what my lawyer has told me to make things easier , but now you are saying this I am going to try and not go to Bkk embassy for the stamp , and see if the Bank accepts it without . Be handy if they do , cos it will save me a days work of going into Bangkok
Nev ********
@Jason *****
I looked at getting that also but in Australia the Thai Embassy website says you have to have health insurance for the non O 90 day visa
Tracey ********
I have done my non o in the UK and they have asked for insurance too, I thought it was just non OA, but Thai embassy in London asked me to provide health insurance, as it was I have taken it out to start on our arrival date, but they definitely are asking for it, my application has anyway.

@Tracey *******
I done mine in Sept and no insurance requirements, ensure you are applying on the correct website and not some Scammers! There are plenty of bogus sites out there!

@Malcolm ********
I've done it through an agent, definitely right website, definitely asked for insurance and definitely o visa not oa.

@Tracey *******
How long ago was that because mine in Apr/May did not require insurance?
Andrew ******
I know the Non O does not need health insurance but if you are applying in NZ I was just asked for additional information for my Non O application and they want health insurance which I know there is none but all the same I have done Non OA insurance and hoping that will pass me so yes you do not need it mostly around the world but right now in NZ you do .
Graham ******
I think you are assuming that the Non-OA is the 12 month extension for the Non-O but they are two different initial retirement visas with different requirements
Brandon ************
I'm not sure what you are asking. There is no such thing as extensions when it comes to the embassy. Extensions are done in Thailand at an immigration office. The embassy only deals with visas.

The 90 day non-O visa does not have an insurance requirement.

The 1 year non-OA visa (a completely different visa) does require insurance, as well as health check, background check and other requirements.
