For US...spouse doing online application and it is still asking for health insurance. Is this normal? Is it still an actual requirement for entry? Is there a work around?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry questions whether health insurance is a required part of the visa application for U.S. citizens applying for a Non-O visa to Thailand. One commenter shares their experience with the Los Angeles consulate, indicating that while the consulate requested $100,000 coverage, they successfully submitted a lower coverage amount of $20,000 and still received visa approval. This suggests that there may be flexibility in the amount of insurance coverage required, though it's uncertain if one could bypass the requirement entirely.

, I was approved for a Non-O based on family a couple of weeks ago. Los Angeles consulate was asking for $100,000 coverage. I knew I wanted travel insurance anyway so I submitted $20,000 coverage and was approved for the visa without issue. So what is written is not necessarily what they are looking for. I am sure I could have gotten the $10,000 that was still the Thailand Pass requirement at the time and still have been approved. I can’t say that you could bypass the insurance altogether on the visa application since I did submit with insurance, but they did approve at a much lower level than what was on the application. Just my experience.

it’s no longer a requirement for entry. However I believe the US consulates require it for visa issuance. A work around is come over visa exempt and apply in country for the Non O.
