Advice needed please.

I want to get a yellow book and a pink card. I am looking at applying for permanent residency next year and am informed that having a yellow book makes the process easier.

Background: I am married to a Thai national and have been living and working in Thailand for two years. I have done my tax returns.

My understanding of applying for the yellow book from my local amphur where I enquired about the yellow book is that I need a translated and mfa certified copy of my passport.

I do not have time to travel to Bangkok to get this done so approached a legal firm who informed me that I must travel to the British embassy in Bangkok to get the passport certified first, tgen translated into Thai and then certified by MFA but online it says only a translated copy of my passport with MFA certification.

If I have to travel to the British embassy it’ll be some time before I can do that .

My question which is the correct way to do this and is there an agent who can do this so I don’t have to travel to Bangkok

Hi, with regard to marriage registration.....I have the affidavit and certified copy of my passport from the Canadian embassy and I know we need to go to a department of consular affairs to register the marriage. Questions:

1. Do we both need to go together or can just one of us go?

2. Does it matter which office we go to? Normally we are in Bangkok, but we will be in Chumphon next week (where we will get married). My wife's ID card shows Chumphon but she lives in Bangkok

I'm returning to Canada on the 22nd and I could book an appointment for the 21st in the Bangkok office, but it wouldn't be convenient for my wife to attend (hence question 1)

Any helpful folks here based in Ubon Ratchathani? My wife's father passed there 20+ years ago. Now they have need for the death certificate (who wants to be the first wag to say "they should have gotten a copy when it happened?" 555) and are convinced we need to run the whole clan there Beverly Hillbilly style. I am of the opinion that with lawyers and fax machines or whatever that this is solvable without travel.

So my question is... Does anyone have a lawyer referral in that city that might be able to help?

The situation:

I am British and my husband is Thai. We are going to Thailand to get his Thai ID card (he came to the U.K. as a child so needs to go to Thailand for his first Thai ID card). We hope to stay in Thailand for a while.

We are thinking of entering Thailand either with 30 days on arrival or a tourist visa. Once he has his ID card, and if we choose to stay, I will apply for a marriage visa in Thailand.

My questions:

Am I right in thinking that I will need to take our British marriage certificate, legalised/certified by the FCO in Milton Keynes and the Thai embassy in London? Then stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok?

Am I right in thinking that as a foreign wife, I will not need to prove my income (I make 40,000 baht per month anyway though if needed).

Can this be done at his local Amphur office in Thailand?

Anything else we will need?

Hi Everyone, I am currently on a Spouse visa and I am looking at extending again for another year this month. This is my first extension and I want to handle it myself without agent. I only have one question. Do I need to do something special with the marriage certificate? Like have it legalized somewhere or just anything? The certificate is a Thai certificate as I married here in chiang-mai. This is also where I will apply for the extension.

Hello. What's the best place to register a marriage in Bangkok. I went to Laksi, and they were asking too many questions, and want to see my bank account. To quality for an extention of 1 year to my 90 non immigrant O permission to stay in thailand based on marriage I must submit my marriage certificate in thailand. My marriage certificate is a uk one. Has anyone just submitted a uk certificate or did you have to get it legalizes in the uk first and them do anything else with it.
