What's the average turn-around for getting a marriage certificate from the amphur (a BKK office) once all the documentation is submitted? I'd seen "2-3 days" before but am now hearing 4-6 WEEKS. Does that sound right?? Any advice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The average turnaround for obtaining a marriage certificate from an amphur (Registry Office) in Bangkok varies significantly based on different experiences. While some have reported receiving their certificates the same day, others noted cases where the process took up to several weeks, particularly if documentation was not complete or if verification was needed. Overall, many expats emphasize having all necessary paperwork ready to expedite the process, and some recommend making a donation to charity to potentially speed things along.
I got married last week...it took 2hrs in local Ampur....but took nearly 2 months from getting my affidavit... must have been Ampur about 5 times...each time received more paperwork to fill in...cost was 150bht...plus 4000 bht for getting affidavit and my passport translated with the 'green stamp' .
Next step getting the marriage paperwork translated..

Walked into the local amphur Friday morning 09am, walked out with marriage certificate and registry at 14.30. Was a slow process because the employee had to type my farang name in Thai....we found two witnesses on the spot, townhouse employees, otherwise it’s waisting a day from some village people.
Total cost was 90B.
We went out for lunch and brought some Amazon cafe to the slow working employee.

Okay, thanks everyone! I now know that 4-6 weeks is ridiculous and I shouldn't have to pay an extra 6000฿ to get it back within a week or so.
When I got married, I had to make our appointment at the Amphur. Also, do not forget, you need two witnesses when you get married at the Amphur.

I heard of some cases taking weeks as u mention due to them saying they needed to "verify" with MFA.
Apparently this might happen if u don't keep/show the receipt.
Even tho it is all stamped and all the "paid" receipt from MFA seems to be of collosal importance.
So if u r using someone to drop/pick up documents etc make sure u get the receipt.
I am NOT 100% this is the actual reason or bs or whatnot... But it doesn't hurt to take it into account and make sure u have the receipt.

If you make a donation of at least 500 bht to one of the charities promoted at the amphur office - you will probably find things will speed up considerably.
