TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their marriage visa in Thailand and whether they can do so at the Amphur office with 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account. The response clarifies that visas cannot be renewed in the UK or at the Amphur office, but a one-year extension of stay can be applied for at the local immigration office if the user has maintained the required amount in their bank account for at least two months prior to applying.

You cannot renew in the UK. You cannot renew at the amphur's office. In fact you cannot "renew" a visa at all.

You can apply for a 1 year extension of stay if you have the 400,000 baht in your Thai bank account 2 full months before you apply.

You can only do this at your local immigration office.

Graham Seal Yes or if you can plan it, it's even possible to get a re-entry permit on y'r 90 day visa.

The 'problem' with the year 'mariage extension', it goes almost with every imm. office, 30 days 'under consideration' first. Only after that 30 days you get the next 11 months stamped in. So also after getting that consideration stamp you have to be in Thailand when the waiting period is over. Also they can pay you a visit during those 30 days to check if you live together indeed. So, I think with y'r travel, my 'thought' is not so convenient for you I guess. Retirement extension (alas 800k฿ needed) does not have that consideration period.

you'll need to be able to spend about 3 months in Thailand to get through the process of entering on a visa and then extending, especially if it's for marriage. If you can't do that because of your work yet, then using the visa you get from outside Thailand will work best for now.

Thought: You COULD already go for the mariage year extension. From about 30 days left on yr non o . Then also buy a re-entry permit (single or maybe in yr case multi). Then you are already covered for a whole year. If you come in 30 days before yr year extension expires...repeat.

So to have less than 30 days remaining on a 90 day entry stamp you have to be in Thailand approximately 90 days to get the 12 month extension as Brandon stated above
