I don't think so Ken. That's a personal thing between you an your wife. As long as it's not mentioned on your marriage certificate they don't need to know.π
This is the reply I received from the Thai Embassy, London. I imagine it would be similar for you in the USA.
If your just registering your marriage, not changing surnames the process is much easier.
Your marriage certificate has to be certified first by your government department to say its genuine, and then legalised (stamped) by Royal Thai Embassy in the US.
When stamped by the Thai Embassy you then need to translate your marriage certificate into Thai as well before submitting all the documents at the (Amphur) local district office in Thailand.
"It has to have the Thai Embassy stamp or the Local district office will not accept it. I would also get your passport translated as well.
To be sure email the Thai Embassy in the US they got back to me quickly.π
For sure, bit of paperwork but it is recognised in the UK. Didn't seem important 8 years ago but looking at retiring soon and it would make things easier.
