Hi everyone! 👋

I have a question about visa for Filipino helpers. I understand that they’re not allowed to work as domestic helpers in Thailand, is that true? Any way to work around that? Thank you 🙏

I want to open a Indian restaurant in Bangkok. 1) Can I bring in a cook (not chef) from india/nepal to work in a restaurant in Bangkok on contract? 2) Or do they need to show cooking course certificates. 3) Or only chefs (not cook) are permitted to come and work? 4) Or is this occupation reserved for locals only? Pls advice. Thanks.

This question is being ask by a member wishing to post anonymously.

I just got my non-b visa with the school I am currently employed with. It is valid until 30 May, and they have started the process to apply for my work permit. I also got my re-entry permit because I am visiting home for the month of April. However, I want to relocate within Thailand and change schools/employers soon. Should I wait until I have my work permit? Or should I resign as soon as possible. Will they be able to cancel my non-b visa if I do quit? Or should I first find a new employer before quitting my current job?

Update about the new rules on WP. Looks like it is confirmed. At least in Phuket. No guarantee that all other offices follow suit right away. Even though they should..

"The Chief of the Phuket Provincial Employment Office, Kattiya Pandech, has confirmed to The Phuket News this week that new provisions issued by Royal Decree in March are in effect, allowing foreigners with work permits to legally work in any field, anywhere in the country, for any employer as long as the work being done in not on the list of occupations prohibited to foreigners.

This means that foreigners who have been issued work permits are no longer restricted to performing only the type of work listed in the work permit, or at the exact location listed in the work permit, or for the employer listed in the work permit, or even in accordance with the conditions listed in the work permit, Mr Kattiya told The Phuket News.

There is not even any legal requirement for foreigners to inform his office of any changes, he added."
