Business Question...

Any suggestions or insight on finding thai staff, and meeting the 4 staff social security requirement for WP?

If I hired one full time staff, is it strange or common to ask them if they know three others who would like to receive social security? Is this something a thai (say an elder or young person) would be up for?

Are there any cultural considerations when doing this (does it make someone look bad, seen as a dishonest, etc)? or is it something someone's granny etc would be happy to receive?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks guidance on hiring Thai staff to meet the four-person social security requirement for a work permit. It inquires about the commonality and cultural implications of asking a hired employee for referrals to meet this requirement. The discussion emphasizes the importance of proper registration capital, the necessity of having a licensed Thai accountant, and mentions that offering social security may not be very attractive to potential hires, as many already have access to medical services through government programs.

Or move your business to Cambodia or Laos where none of this nonsense is required.

You also have to pay them the minimum wage as well as social security. If you're that desperate for a visa it's probably cheaper for you to get the Elite Visa. But be quick. Prices are about to go through the roof

Just get your accountant to solve this.

I think you have to actually employ them and pay them a wage on which they "pay" tax. Best you take professional advice

Lots of staff are hired because of referrals by your current workers. You are aware that the number of workers is not the only requirement for a work permit. You must also have at least bt2million in registered capital for each work permit. Also be fully aware that accounting is a restricted occupation, so you must have a licensed Thai accountant as lots of your tax, and business filing must be signed off by a licensed accountant. They can be just part time, but you must have one. It's also a good idea to have an attorney on retainer, and they can help you greatly with meeting the Thai worker requirement for the work permit. Siam-Legal.com is very good, but, my wife, who is a licensed Thai accountant is very busy, but might know someone in that area for you part time. I might add that offering social security is not interesting to Thais, as the only thing of any value is the medical, and any Thai in need of a job like you offer already has cheap, or free medical through the bt30 program

I might add that crackdowns are starting to happen with people using proxies to fill the requirements, and if on your income tax filings you don't show wages being paid on your Thai workers, you could be in serious problems in the future, as not meeting the requirements.
