Can I work remotely for my UK company while holding a visa that states 'work prohibited' in Thailand?

Can someone help me understand. The visa says “work prohibited” but what about when you apply as a remote worker as someone who works online. Obviously you can’t get a new job or start up a business there but are you still allowed to work in Thailand for your UK company? I’m just trying to make it make sense.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The prevailing interpretation among community members is that while the visa indicates that "work is prohibited," it primarily refers to employment within Thailand, such as securing a job or starting a business in the country. Remote work for a non-Thai company, like a UK employer, is generally allowed as the income is sourced from outside Thailand. This implies that individuals can legally work remotely for their companies abroad even on a visa that explicitly states employment is prohibited.

In my opinion, the "Employment Prohibited" remark either shouldn't be there or be modified to "Employment in Thailand Prohibited". The way it's worded now is quite ambiguous.

it also suggests they do not see remote workers as employment, probably you can be remote worker on any visa and even on visa exempt without problems.

It says "employment prohibited", tho. You're allowed to work as a remote worker and/or freelancer, but for a non Thai company abroad.

It just means your income has to come from outside of Thailand. Can't get a job or start a business in Thailand
