not sure if this is off topic here. my employer had the promise of getting me a work permit but asked me to start to work before the application kicked off. He then dismissed me after two weeks and refused to pay my wages. Do anyone know how shall i file a complaint against him?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how to file a complaint against their employer after being dismissed and not paid for work performed without a work permit. Various comments suggest that filing a complaint may not be advisable due to the user's illegal employment status. Some recommend seeking legal advice, while others suggest letting the situation go, citing the risks of being fined or jailed for working without a permit in Thailand. There's also mention of the employer's responsibility in obtaining a work permit.
I wish I knew more about that but under my understanding, if you have a contract, that shows that you were not willing to work illegally. Its his responsability to apply for his workers work permit.
I would ask a lawyer in person, show your evidences, seek his advice and act according to that.
So on your theory you would prefer the person continue to abuse others without fear or repercussion ...the only people who don't like snitches are people themselves who are afraid of getting caught for something... do no wrong and live peacefully is much better
In Thailand, a verbal agreement of employment is lawful whether you are employed legally or not. There have been cases put before tribunals where an illegally employed person( s) has won. But, your case , and the era that we are now in, my advice would be just to walk away.
just afraid more people could fall prey as he came to Bangkok to run his business with a tourist visa and i saw he is still hiring people on the web. Is there a chance to report to MOL anonymously about his illegal status
find a Thai person who is willing to report him anonymously to immigration for having illegal workers. You should stay out of it personally. maybe best to simply walk away
Thank you Martin. actually it wasnt about the money... but i heard of others falling into his scam and was let go in a few weeks without pay, too.... so i just hope to do something...
New rule set on 22 Jun 2017: If a foreigner works without having a work permit or work at a foreigner forbidden position, he/she is imprisoned not more than 5 years, fined with 2,000-100,000 Baht or both.
You can file a report at Local Police, Tourist Police, Ministry of Labor but remember: You worked without a work permit. You are as liable as him for a fine and jail time. Let it be a lesson.
