Hi, I am looking for more info from people who managed to get a DTV as a freelance by applying in person in Laos at the Vientiane Thai embassy.

Looking at https://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/en/page/destination-thailand-visa-dtv?menu=66949d200066d37e98695dc3

They mentioned:

Copies of agency/school/institution/company documents must be signed by an authorized person and stamped with the agency/school/institution/company seal.**

I am between contracts now and spent the last 6months learning Thai on an ED visa (not working currently but did remote IT work before). I am planning to switch from ED to DTV when my ED visa ends in early 2025.

So I am wondering what would the embassy consider a valid proof of freelance work/portfolio.

Also do they differentiate between a DTV for freelance online worker and a DTV for someone who booked a 2hour cooking class in Bangkok?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) at the Vientiane Thai embassy for freelancers. The user is transitioning from an ED visa and seeks clarification on acceptable proof of freelance work and whether there is a distinction between DTV applications for freelancers and those for short-term classes like cooking. The comments reflect similar inquiries about documentation, with suggestions for providing affidavits from home country embassies and a recommendation to wait for more concrete information closer to the application time.

Has anyone gone yet?

Since you are not needing to have the DTV until next year, the best you can do, is to wait 2-3 month to think about DTV, since in a couple of month there will be actual Experience based on facts, instead of now where a lot of guessing and interpretation is going on.

Yeah makes sense and that is pretty much my thinking for now. As usual with Thailand and visa let's "Wait and see..." ๐Ÿ˜„

What ever you want to provide as proof, your home country embassy has affidavits they can sign for you. But for freelance work what would you show id you were a writer, painter, web designer, etc

When you say copies of agency/school/etc etc, what are you referring to? Proof of our previous ED visas? Also in the same boat and planning to apply for DTV at Vientiane embassy ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

proof of your reason for applying for the DTV. Whatever you are using to qualify.
