Hi its me again looking for more advice!!!!! Got this email from the Thai embassy in the UK

Dear Sir/Madam,

You do not need appointment we are open 9.00-12.00, Mon- Fri

For non immigrant -O

• For pensioner (aged 50 or over) : A copy of pension statement if the applicant is a pensioner or a copy of 1 month bank statement showing your income from pension.

• fee 50 GBP for single entry

• we accept cash only

• Separate bank is preferred but if joint bank account we have to consider on the paperwork when you hand it

Kind Regards,

Visa Officer

So am I right in thinking that as we do not receive a pension but have other assets we cannot get visas for pensioners over 50?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the requirements for a Non-Immigrant O visa for pensioners aged 50 or over from the Thai embassy in the UK. The embassy states that applicants must provide proof of pension income, with a fee of 50 GBP required for a single entry. Comments from the community clarify that the visa is for those over 50 who meet financial requirements, and it is not strictly limited to pensioners. Alternatives include applying for a Non-Immigrant O-A long-term visa, which has different requirements, or obtaining a tourist visa to apply for the O visa from within Thailand.

Okay, this is obviously for a 90 day single entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa <- note there is no A after it. It's not an O-A because they're not asking for a police background check or a medical certificate.

The consulate in London isn't issuing regular Non-O's to people who don't show PENSION income statements even if they have the money in the bank. I don't know why, they just are.

I'd say, either get the year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa (which gives you unlimited entries for a year with each entry getting you stamped in for a whole year) and which requires a police back ground check and a medical certificate

OR

get a single entry tourist visa, come here, apply for the 90 day Non-O visa inside the country and then apply for the year extension after that.

Here's the info on the Non-O-A from London. Of the two choices I mentioned its by FAR the easier and most long lasting option. PLUS you don't need to bank any money here in thailand to get it. You use your account in the UK as proof of funds.

I have just had my visa back from the Thai Embassy in London, by post as 4 day turnaround, I was quite impressed. I have a 12 month multi entry visa non immigration visa based on marriage , I was not asked for any health certificate or a police check.

No. The terms are confusing. As are the people who work in the Royal Thai Embassy in London.

The visa isn’t actually issued for pensioners, it’s issued for anyone over 50 who meets the financial requirements.

Obviously old age (state) pension in the uk isn’t issued at the age of 50. Some people do get their private pensions at an earlier age but that’s besides the point really.

If you meet the financial requirements you can get this visa.
