TLDR : Answer Summary
Obtaining a multi-entry O visa in Australia is manageable if all necessary requirements are met. However, for a 70-year-old who plans to stay for only up to three months, a single-entry Non-Immigrant O visa or a special tourist visa (SETV) may be more appropriate, and he can extend it if needed.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

If your mate is only coming for 3 months he just needs the single entry non imm 0 visa not the multi entry version, or even an SETV and then extend it.

The requirements can differ between the Thai Embassy or Consulates, so I have to use google to find the correct ones and need to know where your friend is going to apply.
