Do I need to transfer my. E Thai visa to. New passport?

I obtained a Thai driving license that is valid for two years while I was on a student visa.

The license is still valid.

I am currently on a DTV visa, and I’m wondering whether it is possible to renew the license under my current visa status.

I’m asking because the DTV visa has a very specific status, for example when it comes to opening bank accounts, so I’m not sure whether this also affects driving license renewal.

I’m looking for advice on Thailand visa options in a difficult personal situation.

I’m currently in Thailand on a spouse-based visa, but due to a serious relationship breakdown (infidelity and separation), my wife has asked for space and limited communication.

I cannot remain legally dependent on another person, so I need to transition to an independent visa as soon as possible.

I have time until 31 July 2026, sufficient funds, and I work remotely / run my own business.

Could anyone advise on:

• Viable visa options in this situation

• Whether conversion is possible without leaving Thailand

• Recommended visa agents or lawyers

Has anyone applied for the DTV from with the States? There is an embassy in Washington DC. Anyone have experience?

As an LTD company owner that works freelance for UK companies for a couple weeks to a couple month at a time in the UK, would a DTV be suitable to live in Thailand and travel back to the UK 2 or 3 times a year for work.

For clarity, while in Thailand there would be no working, not remotely online other than administration stuff, diary and accounts etc, all the actual freelancing would take place in the UK and payment would be received into UK banks, taxes paid to HMRC etc.

If not, what Visa solution would you suggest?

I have 2 overstays but no official ban. 1 from a motorbike accident a year ago and now another because I couldn't get an extension like I planned (I'm about to leave). Could these be a problem when entering on DTV even if DTV is approved? American passport. The first overstay was 40 days.

After my documents were pending approval and then under document check, the embassy requested a clearer bank statement, which I uploaded. It went back to pending approval, and now it’s document check again.

I just got an email from the embassy inviting me to an interview next week.

Does anyone have experience with this? What should I expect in the interview, and how can I best prepare for it? (Applying for Workcation)

How often do you travel in and out of Thailand on a DTV visa? I'm planning to relocate permanently, but I'll be leaving the country and returning to Europe for a week in every two months. That's 6 or 7 entries to Thailand per year. Does anyone else doing like this? Do you encounter any problems with the immigration control at the airport? I know that according to the rules, no one should have a problem, but what does it look like in practice?
