I have a trip coming up and we're renting a car. I realised just now my license expired on my birthday a few days ago. I understand I need a certificate of residence, does anyone know how long it takes to get one? Someone told me a week, another told me a day. My office is Samut Prakan.
I obtained a Thai driving license that is valid for two years while I was on a student visa.
The license is still valid.
I am currently on a DTV visa, and I’m wondering whether it is possible to renew the license under my current visa status.
I’m asking because the DTV visa has a very specific status, for example when it comes to opening bank accounts, so I’m not sure whether this also affects driving license renewal.
Happy Monday all. Quick question. I have the Non OA with multi entry and I plan to leave Thai for around 2 months in oct. Do I need to get a re-entry stamp and if so how and where do I get it.
I need to get a certificate of residency at immigration (Bangkok). Renew DL. My situation is a bit unique. I never do the 90 days report because I always exit the country before 90 days. What documents does immigration require for the certificate of residency? I searched the group posts and saw conflicting information about the requirement of previous 90day report done.
As for renewing driving licenses, you get 2year with DTV not 5year, I guess this was expected as its a tourist visa, but I had some hopes because its 5year visa 😝
And for requirements, on DLT website it says certificate of residence but no, you need the same paper from IO that you needed when you got your first license (for motorbike, and car, different papers).
The officer at transportation office said, and wrote on my appointment letter that I need 1 cert and 1 copy of it. A bit confusing since i renew motorbike and car. Car they check both boxes in 1 paper?
I have never renewed a license here before, so of course obvious things for some people, but just FYI for people like me...
You also need to print out the certificate of your 1hour training, showing from phone is not enough.
It’s not directly the DTV, but I just want to share my experience.
I got my DTV, it got stamped as usual for six months, as I had already had a thai driving license, I want to renew which you have to do after two years.
After two years, you get normally five years driving license.
So I went to the "Songkhla Provincial Land Transport Office HatYai” to renew.
After checking with a lot of employers they called the immigration where my certificate of residence was from, and they confirmed my Visa is only valid for six months.
So I got only the license for another two years instead of five because nobody knows what’s going on with the DTV 🤣
But one thing I have to say, all people that are very friendly and helpful, not like at the provincial land transport office in PhangNga.
Tomorrow I will go to DLT to renew my driving license to get 5-years license.
As I have a work permit, this should be sufficient for the proof of residence.
They require a copy of the work permit page with address. However, my residence address is not showing on my work permit. I wonder if this will give me any issues tomorrow?
Hello, do you know if you can renew your driving license with a DTV? My 2 years are expiring soon and will need to renew it to be able to drive legally. Thank you for your feedback
