Will my past overstays affect my entry into Thailand on a DTV visa?

I have 2 overstays but no official ban. 1 from a motorbike accident a year ago and now another because I couldn't get an extension like I planned (I'm about to leave). Could these be a problem when entering on DTV even if DTV is approved? American passport. The first overstay was 40 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about past overstays in Thailand affecting their entry with an approved DTV visa. They mention two specific overstays—one of 40 days due to a motorbike accident and another occurring while attempting to extend their visa. Community responses reflect mixed opinions, with some suggesting that while the overstays may complicate the situation, approval is still possible if other conditions are met. Others highlight the importance of timely visa extensions and the potential for fines upon exit, emphasizing the lack of communication regarding past immigration status between different embassies.

You are 100% able to get a medical extension if you were stuck in a hospital bed, not sure if you can get a retroacted one, why didn't you get a waiver? 40 day overstay at once is massive and a real problem, 2 or 3 days is not a problem unless you have like 10 x of them.

it’s no problem at all. You pay your fine on exit and life goes on. Your ‘punishment’ is over

Well this is where “we will cross the bridge when we get there” really applies. Try getting a DTV first!

Yeah so all

for naught to the question of entering on DTV even if DTV is approved! I don’t know why people jump ahead when DTV hasn’t even been approved 🤷‍♂️

I think isn't problem but you should know immigration have power to revoked your visa.

(But I don't think can happen for overstay or silly reasons like that... But Thailand is Thailand.. !! We know how they love farang 😅

Had an accident and now my plans changed.

And just to let everybody know, because anonymous changes his travel plans or when ever a person get an accident, ALL Immigration Offices nation wide close down.

Good to read that others say it is no problem to break the law in Thailand, you are a guest and allowed to do whatever you think is good.

My thought… grew up Anonymous!

Does nobody here wonder why Thailand keeps changing the rules when the rules are constantly being circumvented?

The fun part is that Thailand does not change the rules.

There are lots of anonymous and others telling that they decide how things have to go in Thailand and when faced they are wrong.

Without saving face they comment, Immigration changed the rules.

Indeed most times the rules do not change, but the circumventing of the rules gets stopped. Some people here think that everything that is not enforced gives possibilities and thus is allowed to do. When it gets enforced they complain rules changed.

“Couldn’t get an extension like I planned.”

You had 30 days to do it!

Time gets added on the end not from when you apply.

I wish more people knew this and saved themselves the fine, worry, and trouble of overstaying.

If can be factored in but people will generally still get the visa so long as all other conditions are met.

Maybe, if you are still in Thailand and get pulled then its a 5 year ban. Getting to an airport an leaving you will be fined 20,000baht. Leave ASAP.

I doubt anyone here could answer precisely to that question. The actual overstay is probably not playing in your favor.

Surely it's not going to help you. People have been approved but of course those overstays are gonna put you under the lens
