Hello, my situation seems complex. I want to go to Thailand in January for eventual retirement. I receive a yearly payout of nearly 800k on January 1, not monthly payments. But I will need some of that to live on, so can’t tie it up in a Thai bank for months.

I don’t currently have 500k for the DTV, and I understand that I need to show a bank statement with that amount for 3 months before applying for a DTV. So, I can apply April 1.

What visa makes the most sense when I go in January?

Is it reasonable to have “some kind” of visa until April 1, then apply for a DTV, then get an over 50/retirement visa when I can leave 800k in a Thai bank?

Hello.

I have been a regular visitor to Thailand for many years and now is the time to stay permanently.

I will be applying for a 90 day non immigrant visa online here in the UK and then after depositing the necessary funds in a Thai bank account will wait the 60 days before heading to my local immigration office in Bueng Gan to apply for a retirement visa. On the official Thai embassy website it says that if I apply to retire in the UK I must provide a medical certificate and police clearance. But if applying in Thailand it says that these "may be requested ". My question is, will I definitely need these certificates? Or is it a case of some immigration offices or officers being more or less stringent. I do want to be prepared especially as I am selling up and leaving sunny Devon forever.

I look forward to any advice 👍

Hi Guys, I am entering Thailand with my authorised 90 day Non-Immigration ‘O’ Visa and will hopefully be converting same to a Retirement Visa once I am in Thailand! The one question I have is do I need a return flight ticket or will a one way ticket into Thailand be ok for me to pass through Immigration at Bangkok International Airport without any problems? Your advice is both welcome and appreciated. Many Thanks.

Hi. I applied for basic 60 day tourist e visa on 1st Oct 2025. Its 15 days later and still waiting om pending (1)..I've applied many times before and always took about 4 working days . I know we get exemption but I went for 60 days in June and July this year as well as Nov Dec last year so the immigration moaned at me for coming too many times and to get a thai wife. I actually got married to thai girl during that stay. In June. I only need 60 day tourist visa. I cannot contact the embassy in anyway phoning or emails and trying the fb messengers now. Which fb messenger is best for a reply? Thank you.
