UPDATE: I’ve been approved!

Probably a bit late to post this but hopefully this can help anyone who wants to apply DTV at Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

I submitted my documents and paid a $400 visa fee on 23rd of September. But due to multiple public holidays and embassy closure date in between, the pick up date is on the 4th of October, which is almost 2 weeks; cutting real close on the 2 weeks visa exemption that I get in Cambodia. As of writing this, I’m waiting to collect the passport. (UPDATE: Approved and collected)

The category for my application is Digital Nomad/Workcation. I’ve submitted the following documents.

1. 3.5 months bank statement with 650k THB only on the closing amount of the final month.

2. My professional portfolio (3D artist)

3. Remote work contracts and certificate (Dubai company)

4. Freelance short term contracts, Freelance NDA contracts

5. Proof of stay in Bangkok (Contract and TM30)

6. Application form with my passport photo

7. Copy of my passport page

There was no need of getting an appointment in Phnom Penh Embassy. I just walked in, took a token number and waited until they called my number. The officer just skimmed through the documents quick, asked what type of visa I’m applying and told me to pick up on the 4th of September. Everyone else who applied on the same day as I did was also told to pick up on the 4th.

My tip is to check for holidays of the embassy you wish to apply at before you plan your trip. I have spent almost 2 weeks in Cambodia which was quite boring especially in Phnom Penh. Since they have taken my passport, I couldn’t visit any other city or move hotels.

Hopefully everything goes well and I get accepted. I’ll keep you guys posted in the comments after I pick it up. Good luck to everyone else who’s applying for the visa.

Cheers!

Is it possible to get a 30-day extension (without leaving Thailand) for an initial Non-imm O (spouse) visa, in order to buy more time to get other documents ready for the 1-year extension?

Hello, I am looking to move to Thailand next year. I work offshore 6 months of the year (3 months off, 3 months on). With the occasional 6 week trip in between. What would be the most recommended way to go about visas?

Or just stick with the tourist visa?

Any help is appreciated

DTV Approval - Canberra, Australia.

I am a New Zealand resident and passport holder but applied from Australia as we are travelling here atm (lucky timing considering the insane pricing at the NZ embassy).

I applied for the DTV for myself under the workation banner, with my husband and kids as dependents.

I submitted my application on August 27th and was asked for further information on August 30th.

The further info required was:

Other request documents: Remote Working Details Document (To clarify your remote working details)

Other request documents: Proof of Your Address in Australia

For the Remote Working Details Document, I put together a PDF showing how my business operates, all written in the third person and describing how it makes money and is run remotely.

I added screenshots of my business website and company registration from New Zealand.

For proof of address, I added the invoice for the place we were staying at the time from Booking dot com. Note that this was not my permanent place of abode.

My visa was granted on 11 September.

I then applied for my husband and kids on the 12th of September.

Again, they requested further docs (but only for one of my kids) on the 19th of September.

Other request documents: Proof of Your Visa Status/VEVO in Australia

I rang Home Affairs/Immigration to get a VEVO for my child but was informed that they don't do them for kids, so I submitted our original Qantas ticket showing entry for all of us into Australia, with a note on the pdf stating, "VEVO not available for child as per Home Affairs Australia, however, this flight confirmation shows our flight entering Australia - including (child name)."

Later that same day (19th September), my husband and eldest child were approved, and my youngest was approved on the 22nd.

I showed a screenshot of our managed fund in New Zealand for financials. I did not want to withdraw from the fund to show the funds in our bank account, but I would've if they insisted.

Luckily, they didn't. I used the same screenshot for all four of us.

I didn't have a flight booked, and they didn't ask, but I did book the flight I stated in the application, just not til after approval.

A lot of people are worried about if you need to apply in your home country if it’s E-Visa. Don’t worry you can apply anywhere. I have been applying for tourist visa to Thailand since 2023 in China. But i am from Africa but i live in China. You just need proof of residency. Your visa doesn’t matter whether it’s long term visa or tourist. Last time i applied for my friend who can to China on tourist visa and he got accepted. His visa was only left with 8 days at that time. Some hotels can actually help you register to the police if you want

We will be staying in Thailand for about two months as tourists, visa-exempt (from US).

Is it illegal to also volunteer while on a tourist visa? My understanding is some countries don’t want foreign tourists volunteering while they are on a tourist visa.

I’m interested in possibly volunteering in an orphanage or local school. I have several years of experience teaching EFL & I’m also a Speech-Language Pathologist. We’ll be traveling with my young daughter and she struggles with interactions with peers and I was thinking it might be beneficial to do something like this with her while we are there (both benefiting local kids and her at the same time). Possibly an hour or two a day or at least a couple times a week. Im not looking for paid work.

I read about the volunteer visa, but I don’t think it applies, as volunteering is not our main purpose. Can anyone provide insight and/or point me in the right direction for info about volunteering while on a tourist visa?

TIA!
