Is it actually a requirement of the visa to stay in country whilst you are applying (Vietnam) ?

Haven’t seen any reports of in person interviews for HCMC

Would rather travel onto Japan than stay here

Hi all,

I recently had my DTV approved in just 72 hours! I’m from the UK and applied from London.

This forum has been incredibly helpful during my process, so I thought I’d give back by sharing my experience and offering to answer any questions about the process.

For my application, I was asked to provide an employment contract and a recent utility bill, and I was approved the next day.

One piece of advice: Be super thorough when checking the details on your application. For example, the numbers automatically uploaded from your passport can sometimes be incorrect and may need to be manually corrected.

Also, don’t leave anything to chance. If you’re unsure about a particular question, don’t guess—take the time to find the correct information.

My DTV just approved in HCM. Thank god this is over. I can't be bothered to type the whole ordeal but in a nutshell I been living out of my backpack since 27th Nov bouncing around Asia losing money on cancelled flights, rescheduled flights. Yes, in part due to my own errors. I initially planned to apply at Vientiane but the website is a bit tricky. Slots seem available but when it comes to booking them they are actually unavailable when you try to click them.

SUMMARY

Been living in Thailand 14 years on mix of working holiday visa, work visas, marriage visas, tourist visas. Previously to the DTV was NON-B.

Applied Savannakhet (Muay Thai) with correct documents - DENIED FOR NO REASON

Applied HCMC with EXACTLY THE SAME DOCUMENTS - Approved in 3.5 business days. No requests for further documentation.

I submitted 2 foriegn bank statements totalling $500,000+ AUD. Seasoned well over 6 months.

Selected unemployed with $0 income.

Permanent address of family place in Australia which matches with my driving licence.

Current address - Hotel booking HCM.

Thai phone number.

Thai address on bank statement.

Thai billing address on payment card. (debated as possible reason for payment issues).

Current location document: Entry stamp to HCM and hotel booking. Not all pages.

MUAY THAI DOCUMENTS FROM PHUKET:

Acceptance letter in Thai and english addressed to HCM specifically.

Receipt

Copy of gyms certification card from "BOARD OF BOXING SPORT"

Copy of owners id card

Business licence and DBD document - This has a different company name to the gyms name. That was Savannakhets stated reason for refusal. IT'S NORMAL.

Screenshots of gyms google, IG, FB and website for good measure.

Done

A FEW SMALL NOTES:

- AIS roaming in Laos doesn't work - Don't bother with it.

- Loca is the local rideshare app and works great in Vientiane. In Savannakhet no Loca but Xahn instead.

- Common Grounds cafe is a good base in Vientiane with wifi, food and aircon while you are room-less.

- Laos evisa 5 business days - They respond to emails during this time. "Sorry mister".

- Vietnam evisa - Mine took 6 days. They do not respond to emails.

- Entry to Saigon. Expect upto 2hrs in immigration line. Use Grab or Hotel transfers from the airport. Grab still running scams but much less so.

- Thai evisa website. You can upload only 1 file for each category a maximum of 3mb each.

- Yes I also had payment issues - Solved by using a different authorisation method.

- AIS roaming works fine in Vietnam most of the time.

I joined FB just for this group. I will delete this account in a day or so but the post should remain to benefit others.

Thank you to the posters in the group

approved DTV! 🥰

apply evisa in Jakarta on Dec 8th, change status to pending approval on 11th, and just approved today on 13th! Really nervous because my flight is tomorrow and plan to change the flight if until 9pm I didn't get the visa yet.

They didn't ask for more document but I also make sure all the documents are complete and the Muay Thai place that I choose is really helpful w the necessary docs.

I had a retirement visa a couple of years ago, but as I spent more time in Europe it expired. I kept the 800k in my account here though. I want to change my present tourist visa to a Non-Immi, then retirement. As per the last 2-3 times I got a retirement visa I got the statement from the bank confirming I have the 800k in my account. However, the woman at the reception in immigration is saying I have to send the 800k again, and I can't get my head around what she means. Can someone explain, because I see no reference to this on the form telling us what documents are required.

Taipei - DTV

Hi! I'm applying for a DTV visa workcation (freelancer) next week and I just wanted to check if I got all the documents I need. I've scanned these forums several times but I want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

* Application form with a visa photo

* Passport and passport copy

* Application fee 11,000 TWD

* Visa stamp Taiwan

* Hotel booking Taiwan

* Flight ticket to Taiwan and to Thailand

* Personal cover letter - Saying I'd love to work remotely in Thailand

* Company letter - Confirming that I work for them, I can work remotely from Thailand and they have no business presence in Thailand. Signed by the CTO

* Resume

* Work portfolio (UI/UX design)

* My 3 most recent invoices

* Bank account summary showing 500,000 THB

* Bank statement from past 6 months (incoming invoice payments highlighted)

Potential concerns

1. I'm a freelancer without a company so I don't have a company registration document etc. since I freelance as a private person. Neither am I an employee. I hope that wont be an issue.

2. I've only freelanced for 2 months but I have 1 paying customer who I have invoiced about 5000 Euros. Hope that will be OK as well.

Would love to get some feedback.

Thank you very much.

So my question is if the visa is good for five years, why should you apply no less than three months before you intend to enter?

I’m asking because I want to go to Japan first and usually the previous Thai tourist visa you could enter at any time

I’m 19, I got my DTV approved at the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar, despite everyone saying it wasn’t possible due to me not being 20.

I’m a high earner, a part time freelancer and also work a 9-5 corporate job. I think it might have resulted in my visa approval.

I applied in person at embassy, where I had a casual interview with the Consul General. She asked about my work and travel history, but mostly, she seemed genuinely interested in my previous travels in Thailand.

The next day, I collected my approved visa and passport.

The documents I submitted included:

- Resume

- Company Certificate

- Company Extract

- Company Tax Payer Identification

- Employment Contract (Approved and Stamped by the Ministry of Labor)

- Statment by the Board of Directors supporting remote work applications.

- Formal request letter from my company to the Royal Thai Embassy

- Balance Certificate Issued by Bank

- 6 months of bank statement

It’s not a hefty process, if you align with their criteria I’m sure they won’t make it difficult for you.

Good luck with your DTV applications everyone. Everything is possible!

I have just been asked to supply proof of paid invoices from clients as a contract freelancer (which were within the 6 month bank statement I provided) Having now submitted them I am wondering what the turn around time is for the visa to be accepted? I submitted initial application Tuesday 11am and receive this request at 4pm today. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
