, sadly you can not apply whilst in Thailand. You must be located outside of Thailand at the time of your application.

You have to be in the country you apply from. Every Embassy may be slightly different in how they process the applications.

I called the Australian Embassy (Canberra) and spoke to them as a follow up to my urgently needed DTV as well. They were very polite and super helpful. I had the visa approved in the next 2 hours after expressing my urgent requirements, because like you I had flights and accommodation booked and did not want to lose money

My 500,000 was only in the bank less than 48 hours. Completed my application via website and submitted to Thai Embassy, Canberra Australia

My understanding is at no stage should you be paying Thai tax on wages when using the DTV visa

. Please note I am not an expert and only submitted one application for this myself. I also have many questions only need answering.

I don’t plan on becoming a tax resident Marb. I will be doing a border run to Cambodia after 6 months 180 days. I believe this eliminate the requirement for a Thai bank balance and to show proof of income again.

I had 500,000 Baht in the account a matter of hours when I sent my application in. This was in Australia back in December. It was accepted following a request for some additional documents not related to the bank balance.
