I am no expert but the consulate was very flexible with the Metv as I had a typed Itinery with land crossings and they didn't require additional airfares.

I will be using them in the future to avoid this grief again as I work less and tour more.

yeah mate. A 3 week holiday. Went home for a month. Then back a second time. Only two weeks... Then flight to Yangon. Then flight back Yangon to BKK for third stamp. Stayed a week and went home. Came back for another four weeks ending about a month ago. So 62 days using 4 exempt stamps.

Sadly all flights booked etc. But definitely worth a shot next year if all goes to hell. But with a red stamp I won't bother this year.

Anecdotally. I attended a Australian Thai consulate today. Was approved for METV.

Had the officer review my passport. I have four 30day exempt stamps on arrival for 2019 already for a total of 62 days in Thailand.

She advised me there was a chance I could get rejected by an IO at BKK on arrival. Due to recent policy guidelines from Immigration.

Her advice was to have my cash, accomodation booking, itinerary from visa application and first exit flight ticket to show IO with my passport.

I am suprised that 62 days in Thailand against 253 days in my home country may exclude me as a tourist. But that's just life.

Guess I will have no problem spending my cash in another SEA country.

Such is life.
