HI guys,

Today I came to Vientiane to get tourist visa.

Many people was rejected but they still get 30days stamp in Nong Khae .

My documents were cheking very closely : Return ticker, hotels, bank account.

They said that deccision will be taken tomorrow.

QUESTION : what should I expect? I mean is this good or bad for my me? Also if they want to reject me they would do it immidiately right?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has submitted their documents for a tourist visa in Vientiane, mentioning that many others were rejected but still received a temporary entry stamp. They are seeking advice on what to expect regarding their visa decision, questioning if a delay in the verdict is a positive sign or not.

The Vientienne office has three windows.

The one on the left is the one used for denials. If you are directed towards the left window when picking up your passport - you need a plan B.

Do you have to show a bankstatement or is cash fine as well? And is a busticket valid or need a flyticket?

One more thing that wasn't mentioned is that they look closely at your bank book ( i did it like 3 days before visa run and put money on account on the same day) and they want to see your monet two or three months ago.

I said that I took my salary from native county and put on an account in thai bank. I repeat it like two or tree times and after that she said OK.

Also you will be questioned by a students and they understand everything. Your "story" has to be smart.

I'm waiting for deccision today. Hope everything will be ok.

If asked at a Thai Consulate you hand over a copy of a bank statement. If asked by Immigration on arrival in Thailand you show in cash. You need proof of onward travel, but be aware it sounds a little strange to have a hotel close the the Malaysian border and your onward travel is the bus from Nong Khai to Vientiane.

Anecdotally. I attended a Australian Thai consulate today. Was approved for METV.

Had the officer review my passport. I have four 30day exempt stamps on arrival for 2019 already for a total of 62 days in Thailand.

She advised me there was a chance I could get rejected by an IO at BKK on arrival. Due to recent policy guidelines from Immigration.

Her advice was to have my cash, accomodation booking, itinerary from visa application and first exit flight ticket to show IO with my passport.

I am suprised that 62 days in Thailand against 253 days in my home country may exclude me as a tourist. But that's just life.

Guess I will have no problem spending my cash in another SEA country.

Such is life.

I am no expert but the consulate was very flexible with the Metv as I had a typed Itinery with land crossings and they didn't require additional airfares.

I will be using them in the future to avoid this grief again as I work less and tour more.

sorry my bad, I read extension not exemption. So in this case, it's your first METV? I'm wondering about getting second one, I got one in Nov 2018, left Thailand at the end of July '19

yeah mate. A 3 week holiday. Went home for a month. Then back a second time. Only two weeks... Then flight to Yangon. Then flight back Yangon to BKK for third stamp. Stayed a week and went home. Came back for another four weeks ending about a month ago. So 62 days using 4 exempt stamps.

Sadly all flights booked etc. But definitely worth a shot next year if all goes to hell. But with a red stamp I won't bother this year.

She gave you good advice and as this so called crackdown all is about people living inside Thailand for years using Visa Exempt Entry, Tourist Visa and the Non Immigrant ED visa to stay much longer, you do not have to worry to much with only 62 days of stay.

you can not extend a visa. When a visa is used it is stamped used and became invalid and nothing more than a memory in your passport

many people was rejected, for me many stands for minimum 199 a day as they only handle 200 applications. But it could be that you think 2 is many. You do not know any reason, did you ask many of them, did they all have a valid passport, did they already have the warning stamp, did they all meet the requirements? Just to name a few reason to be denied a visa.
