Usually no problem. Can be done yes. But in your case probably you will have problems.

Because you trying to live in TH withouth the proper visa for a couple of years now.

I personally know legit tourists got hasseled at the border coming from Cambodia. They even stayed a couple of days in Cambodia.

Immigration officers still gave them a warning and wanted to see onward ticket.

 but you can cross the border and wait for the embassy to open.

Even if you do it working days still you will not get visa same day from embassy I assume
