To my understanding with a DTV there is no minimum/maximum amount of time you need to stay out of Thailand to get another 180 day stamp, Same day DIY bounce is possible as it is a Multiple entry visa

Just get a dtv visa, if your planing to stay longer then 6 months its cheaper then extensions & border runs
