Wrong visa is valid for 5 years provided you fulfill the conditions for having the visa. It's called violating your conditions of stay and you risk having you dtv revoked

Actually it's not nonsense, It's just that the rules for the visa are often not enforced. I can see that changing fairly soon though.

LongTimeLivingInThailand I went over to Laos just before Christmas they stamped the last page on my passport ignoring the previous blank pages.

FirstNameLastName That was before the clampdown. Now no one with a DTV can open an account and those that had them before are slowly having them closed down. I had friends called into their bank told their accounts frozen, Either change from DTV or have their accounts closed

FirstNameLastName If you are married to a Thai why would you have a DTV? Plus owning a condo does not get you a bank account. You cannot open a bank account now on a DTV, It is a Tourist visa and you cannot open accounts on a Tourist visa anymore.

It is just not possible to get it into some peoples heads mate, He is heading towards a possible heavy fine at best. At worst banned from the kingdom and he cannot say he was not warned.
