The Thai government is implementing a change where the visa-free stay period for tourists will be reduced from 60 days to 30 days. This change is expected to be effective soon, with the exact implementation date still being discussed. The reduction is primarily aimed at addressing concerns about the misuse of the visa exemption program, particularly illegal business activities and employment.

While the exact date of the change is still pending, it's likely to be implemented soon. The Tourism and Sports Ministry, along with other stakeholders, are currently discussing the details of the implementation. Tourism operators and authorities have voiced concerns about the exploitation of the 60-day visa-free stay by some individuals for illegal activities, leading to the decision to reduce the stay period.

Phil, this is Thailand.

We can recall the toing froing ting tong situation last year when I was caught out twice because the changes had not happened despite dates being given.

I don't run that department but would not be surprised that a change will occur after May.

I'm sorry there is no definitive answer as much gossip occurs before the government actually implements what it will.

This is about Robert's journey.

It's best if he finds out himself what his risks are.

Not Facebook opinions that are useless because they are not Robert Johnson.

There is a lot of talk and the authority is usually late implementing change in my experience of the last year.

So I stand by the advice that if at all, there will be a fine at most.

Your comments of who is right and who is wrong do not help a person who is genuinely concerned of what could happen.

Good luck Robert Johnson!

The 60 day visa exemption will be reduced to 30 days as it was last year.

If it's only a day, plan for 500 baht in your back pocket if they fine you.

Don't worry, you will be fine!
