The ฿800k needs to be deposited 2 months before, you apply for the 12 month extension, the problem is because he used an agent last year, he doesn't meet the financial conditions, for the previous 12 months (didn't have the money in the bank) so most immigration offices, will refuse to do the renewal if doing it himself, the best thing to do is, deposit the ฿800k in a Thai bank account, and use an agent again this year with his own money, and he can then do it himself next year, there are lots of agents in Pattaya, prices are usually between ฿12k and ฿15k (usually a bit cheaper if using your own finances) for the 12 month retirement visa extension, and around ฿4000 for a multiple re-entry permit, the usual recommendations for Pattaya are, Mots services, Tik Tok visa services, Maneerat Visa Service, one stop visa and driving licence, or if in Bangkok, the Thai visa centre are regularly recommended.

@Nongnuch *******
have you not seen everything that is going on at the moment, with accounts being frozen, and banks requesting customers to visit the bank where the account was opened to verify all the details??

@Nongnuch *******
it's not nonsense at all, the scenario i described, is what this person who posted intends to do, accounts that have been opened on tourist visas, or visa exempts, or even opened by agents, are not being closed, they are being frozen, until the person can verify details (if they can) as in having a long-term "current" visa, and other details such as verified phone number etc, accounts are being closed if the said person, is still on a short-term visa, they are checking visa status, I've just been reading a post from a DTV visa holder, and his account has been closed, he received one of the many thousand notifications, to visit the bank where the account was opened, to verify "all" account details, including "current" visa status, the result was account closed, due to incorrect visa status, as you know this might not be the case in all the banks, some are saying it's okay for DTV, if your account is being used properly, and doesn't involve suspicious activity.

Nongnuch Kamdee thousands of people at the moment, are getting their accounts instantly frozen without warning, they are receiving requests from their bank, to verify all details if a discrepancy is seen, which includes visa status (only long-term visas are allowed to maintain an account) a non O is a 90 day visa, if after the 90 days has lapsed, and they are out the country, or in the country on a visa exempt, the account will be frozen and later closed, if it's opened on a non O, and updated when you receive the 12 month extension, if everything is okay such as verified phone number etc, you won't have any problems.

If you manage to open a bank account on the non O, and then continue to do visa exempts, with everything that is going on with bank accounts at the moment, it could get closed, if you want to play it safe, and have multiple trips to Thailand, and keep your bank account open, maybe consider doing the multiple entry retirement visa extensions.

there is no compulsory requirement for insurance, to apply for a 12 extension of a non O visa, based on retirement.

I've been told Halifax "may" put restrictions on account use, if living abroad, they must have decided to apply restrictions, are they allowing you to keep your accounts?? Get a revolut account, i use that for online booking etc, I like the digital disposable card feature, I don't even use credit cards anymore, just don't need them.

Max fredriksson I have heard some people say, they couldn't "transfer" an account from one bank to another, in a different Provence, they were told to just open a new account, and to close the old one, if it was no longer needed, which is pretty much the same thing, apart from perhaps filling out a few extra forms, I've wondered tho, if you just change the address, doesn't that leave the problem, of only being able to sort certain problems, at the bank where the account was first opened, you would expect everything to just swap over, to your local bank in your new home city, but we are talking about Thailand now 🫣😂

Like others have suggested, you can convert from a tourist visa, to a non O inside Thailand, but it seems you need to do it as a "package" with an agent, they will complete the whole process for you, from opening the bank account, to obtaining the non O visa, and then getting the 12 month extension, if you use your own money, to meet the financial requirements, you can do the extension yourself next year, try agents in Pattaya first they are usually cheaper, or the "thai visa centre" in Bangkok have recently said it can still be done.
