Chris chop I'm not disputing you have never had a problem, I'm just stating, there have been instances when immigration officers, upon requesting onward travel they didn't accept bus tickets, perhaps it's a concern, that you could get refused entry at a land border, into the neighbouring country, and returned to Thailand, a bus into a neighbouring country, is not direct like a flight, it's separate bookings on one itinerary, I'm not sure why to be honest, just aware it could and has happened.
Those fake tickets are a waste of time, I've always said, it only takes one immigration officer, to check and it will get rejected, you can buy a real ticket, to a neighbouring country for virtually the same price, it's just not worth it.
I've heard some people say bus tickets don't always work, because it's just a ticket to the border, some immigration officers, want to see a flight ticket, because it actually takes you across the border and out of the country.
Lots of good dentists in Pattaya, the two I see mentioned regularly, are German dental on Thappraya Road, and Bangkok Pattaya hospital dental department.
It just shows in reality, the thai authorities, are not really bothered about your average digital nomad, keep yourself to yourself, and don't make any money from inside Thailand, and most importantly don't upset the Thai people around you, because if someone wants to make a problem for you, they will just find something anyway whatever you do.
The problem seems to be, if you want to do the extension yourself next time, you need to meet the financial requirements, for the previous year to when you are doing a renewal, okay you say the ฿800k is now sat in your Thai bank account, when is your next 12 month retirement extension due??
I've seen reports of people having problems, when only presenting the pdf visa document, on their phone to the immigration officer at the border, I remember one person saying, the officer was frustrated trying to enlarge the QR code to scan it, or another said his phone battery was dead, so another good reason to have a hard copy, on the E-visa site, at the end of the process, it specifically says "print a copy" it says that because the printed copy is considered to be your visa, you might be "paper conscious" but any government officials are certainly not, Thailand hasn't yet gone digital in many ways, if you haven't yet experienced a visit to an immigration office, the DLT or a bank etc, and everything needs to be done in-person, you will probably have a meltdown, when you see they require multiple documents and multiple photo copies of everything 🤷🫣😂
An alternative to buying full medical cover, is to buy separate policies, for accident cover and critical illness cover, and pay when you need to see a GP because that is not expensive, just use an agent for your visa, thousands do it without any problems, there are lots of retirees, living in Thailand on the UK government pension, you can just live a simple life in the sunshine, way better than staying in the cold miserable expensive UK.
with the METV, you get stamped in for 60 days, and can extend it by 30 days once, at the immigration office if you wish, then you need to exit and re-enter the country, and can do that for the 6 months validity of the visa, you can get between 8 and 9 months out of it.
