Not everyone on retirement extension is on pension already or have the 65k. Also not every embassy issues this letter for the pension anymore. Well... you may say 800k "is not that much", but for many people it's not "pocketmoney". And don't forget that 400k are permanent blocked... that's a big "fee" for the extension, no?

Be aware that Jakarta will change to eVisa system this month.

Lao (Vientiane, Savannakhet) and Burma (Yangon) are still walk-in, but you need to make an appointment first. Without appointment you can do it in Indonesia (Jakarta), Taiwan (Taipei) and Philippines (Manila). Hanoi takes about 5 working days (not included the day you apply).

Jakarta seems to be pretty easy, Laos is the cheapest with exactly 10k (in Baht).
