To ride a bike legal in Thailand you will need a bike license from your home country along with a IDP. This will allow you to ride a bike here for your period of stay of 60 days. If you intend staying longer, then you will need to transfer to a Thailand licence as IDP can only be used for 3 months. Whilst here look at route for transferring to thai license.

Been pulled couple of times before I got my Thai license bud. Always asked for IDP.

I believe you can do it upto 45 days in advance bud

Used KLM quite a lot, not by choice. If you can choose, then don't use them. My personal opinion anyway.
