I’am interested in getting a motorbike license so I stay away from the 500 baht occasional fines. I do have my fiancé’s address I can use. Possible?
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the feasibility of obtaining a motorbike license in Thailand while on a 60-day tourist visa. Key points include the need for an International Drivers Permit (IDP) if the individual holds a motorbike license from their home country, and the use of their fiancé's address for residency requirements. However, to obtain a residency certificate, one typically needs to have completed a 90-day report, which cannot be done on a 60-day visa. Suggestions include contacting local motor vehicle departments for IDP options and considering a training course for bike licensing in Thailand.

Of course it’s possible if you have 3000thb to give to an agent
go to your main post office, ask for a driving license permit with motorcycle added in . You will get a small brown book with international permission to drive for 12 months abroad. My friend gets one has been stopped in Thailand with police... He had no problems. 6 pounds , I don't now the legal position I can only tell u what he did. It's a international driving permit....
my friend from Manchester arrived with a... International driving permit , effective for 12 months. Book said stamped page 1 permission to drive motor vehicle, page 2 permission to drive motorcycle while abroad. Used it B4 , hasn't had a problem in Thailand. Best to Google,,, international driving permit on line and see the information on there David. It may be worth your while... Good luck mate.
it’s not wrong information at all, that’s an option for a tourist who wants a licence quickly and easily.
3000b might be a lot of money to some and pocket change to others so all depends on ones situation

It's a straightforward process to get a bike license and pretty cheap as well. I'd recommend doing a training course first if you d never ridden a bike before. Honda have several training schools around the country. If it's a big bike you want to ride then you'll want a multiday course. If you just want a license so you can ride a twist and go then you'll only need a half day course
the 90 day report for residence cert is a Bangkok rule, it's not needed everywhere. Chiang Mai doesn't have that requirement and will issue them to tourists.

To ride a bike legal in Thailand you will need a bike license from your home country along with a IDP. This will allow you to ride a bike here for your period of stay of 60 days. If you intend staying longer, then you will need to transfer to a Thailand licence as IDP can only be used for 3 months. Whilst here look at route for transferring to thai license.
If you have a motorcycle license from your home country, the Thai traffic police must accept an international drivers permit. You can contact your local motor vehicle department in your home country for more information on how to get this drivers permit.

Maybe. You will need a residency certificate, issued from the immigration office, however requires at least ONE 90 day report to already be submitted (not possible with a 60 day tourist visa). You can also get this residency certificate at your Embassy in Bangkok. The United States government sells them (via the Affidavit) for $50 USD.
I do have an international drivers license US without the motorbike endorsement. Thai police looked for the endorsement and without it gave me a ticket several times.
until he is in a accident of any kind, and then he is in a bit of trouble plus, no license no insurance coverage as you will not be covered. Not hard to get a license and do things legally.
