they will lose alot of customers over this when all the It computer systems have the information readily available. I'm also considering leaving even though I had a small headache. This is because I don't know what to expect next......uncertainty

I'm also with Bangkok bank with the same phone number i had when I opened the account but they made me go to AIS to get a receipt to confirm I still had this number. At least I didnt have to go to my original branch. Its just crazy.

its not just that. In normal banks wherever in the world any branch can process his request as all the information is in their IT System, not have to travel to the original branch.

you need to go back to your branch unfortunately. My recommendation is to get a new bank a new account where your staying and advise manager/staff of Bangkok bank you will withdraw all you funds from your home branch to your new bank and account. Remember for Non O extensions you need to show a certain minimum amount for a new extension.
