TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses whether leaving Thailand on a retirement visa would forfeit the visa status. It clarifies that obtaining a re-entry permit allows the holder to maintain their current allowed stay date, meaning they can return without losing their retirement visa privileges.

huh? Requires me to leave and renter? On my evisa tourist visa form there was a selection for single entry or multi entry. I was wondering if there was the same on the non o visa...
thanks! Not overly intuitive. I would have thought the multi entry would give me the right to leave and renter, but not the obligation to do so.... Interesting.
they do all over world multiple entry visas you just apply visa and show them your plane tickets and they issue you multiple entry. When I did apply non o they asked my tickets so I just apply single entry. This was in Finland.
What are you on about there is very few places offer multi entry non O. I think you are confusing the multi entry tourist visa METV. Why would you need plane ticket to apply for non O visa
and the requirements are high for the Non-Imm-O family visa OR the "trailing spouse" visa: "For a family member of Thai, Please submit an applicant’s current bank statement with minimum balance

€ (not older than 30 days) or financial evidence showing monthly income of no less than 1500 euro." . . and: "Visa Fee: 80 € for a Single entry. There will be no refund if visa application is rejected, or applicants paid for multiple entry visa but only eligible to get single entry visa"
yes trailing spouse and they wanted 15.000 month last day statements for 3 months and I think I send there one week papers and they called me several times including weekend! After all they were pleased and I got my visa🇹🇭 I did apply multi but I didn't have any thoughts going back so I was ok to single and today I'm here with non-immigrant IB because it's far easier manage if something happens and never know what life is bringing future🙏
your info has become obsolete. You do not get a "1-year multi entry Nonm-imm-O based on retirement visa" any more from the Thai Embassy Helsinki. You can only get a 1-year multi entry Non-imm-O visa based on being married to a Thai wife
Several embassies have stopped issuing 90 days Non O visa with multiple entries, you can buy re-entry and on your yearly extension of stay you can buy single or multiple re-entry permits.
"Not quite sure what you're asking. If you have a non-O then you already have a retirement visa. The only thing you can do now is to apply for the 1-year extension.
If you leave the country you will forfeit your retirement visa and will have to start over. You cannot live in Thailand as a tourist, so you either need to return and apply for a new non-O visa at immigration, or go to an embassy in a neighboring country and apply for a new non-O visa there. You cannot extend a visa outside of Thailand."
well, technically spoken, you don't lose the retirement visa. The visa has already expired for use upon the first entry. What you lose is the stay permit that got stamped when you entered using this visa
