Trust the World Bank forecasts and not the local ones (WB are -9% GDP more or less). I agree they badly need to arrange some travel bubbles with Asian countries but even Singapore and HK (two World class cities) have problems right now! The bubbles will not happen for a long time... China has no interest (economically) and in terms of public health to take any risk with Thailand. Same for Korea... and Japan has 2000 cases per day right now.
Make the maths... Tourism is 20% of GDP (Fitch rating - BOT...) A and only 40% (Thai statistics) of the remaining 5% (local) still exist... For the travel bubble... China, Korea will keep imposing 14 days quarantine on the way back... And for your info - Chinese have about 7-10 holidays/year...
But yeah, people who were waitress in bar are now IT programmer...
BKK? Sure... Hotels are running at 20% capacity and most of my friends living there are getting very few contracts (IT...) at nowadays very low rates. Wanna check Pattaya? Samui? Phuket?
lol... 100% covid free is a pipe dream, like the flu - covid is now endemic! In they stick to this idea, 30% of the population are back to the rice field in no time...
