No they don't, only to extend in country. If they do start checking you can use a visa agent to do a border run and get a new 180 day stamp no questions asked.

Why do agents charge more than 50,000 baht for DTV applications when the official visa cost is much lower?

That's probably for people who don't meet the financial requirements. Do it yourself it's not hard.

 No worries. At the end of the day a DTV is a DTV. It doesn't matter how you apply you will get a 5 year multiple entry visa.

Not allowed. Just book a muay Thai or cooking course and apply through soft power.
