That is excellent. Sadly you cannot apply online for UK if abroad.

HMPO information was a shambles. After some inane emails I actually spoke to them on the phone and they told me I would not retain my passport (wrong) and that it would take at least 8 weeks(wrong). When I read out their own webpage to them about it being 4 weeks they put me on hold...then hung up.

Having said that , the VFS lady I dealt with at the UK office on Rama 9 was pretty good.

Yes, passport is valid for another year or more...however have been travelling a lot and was running out of pages.

As an aside for UK nationals, it only took 2 weeks from application in BKK to getting an email from VFS that the new passport had arrived.

(I had asked HMPO in the UK snd they said it would take at least 8 weeks even though the VFS website says about 4 weeks).

FYI - as an aside for anyone in same situation new UK passport actually just took 2 weeks from application to the notification that it had arrived (at VFS BKK)

1. If just staying for the 60 days of exemption then no need to transfer.

2. If applying for the 30 days extension then i do.

i do not have an extension (just the 60 days exempt) so in my case just bring both passports to airport if i leave within the 60 days.

I don't think I will apply for the 30 day extension.

I understand why you ask - concern about not getting back in so you want your stuff with you.
