Minimum 6 month validity is a must

I don’t think that it would be problem for you as you want to enter the country only twice. You’ll be granted 60days on your arrival and get it extended for another 30 days at a nearest Immigration office. But make sure to leave a gap of few months before you make your second visit?

60 day is from the date you entered the country!

I went to few banks in Chiang Mai to open an account and I was informed that I should enter Thailand on a Non O Visa if I need to open a bank account.

Then I went to Thai Consulate in Sydney to apply for a Non O Visa and they informed me that I must have a bank account to apply for a Non O Visa?

I’m confused???

Nelson Periyar - last June I wanted open a bank account in Thailand. Then I was informed that I must arrive in Thailand on a Non O visa if I need to open a bank account.

Therefore last Monday I went to Thai Consulate in Sydney seeking a Non O Visa. To my surprise I was told that I must have a bank account in Thailand to apply for a Non O visa.

Stuart Moran need a sum of 800,000/ baths in a Thai Bank to a minimum of 3 months. If sponsored by the house 400,000/ baths? Also need to enter Thailand on a Non O visa to open a Bank account? Hope I’m correct?

Graham Seal Sorry! That happened to me after arriving from Laos by boat few years ago!

You need to arrive by an international flight. If arrive overland you’ll get only 2 weeks. This was the rule sometime back and don’t know whether it’s amended now!

As far as I know that you need to apply for Non -Immigrant O (Non O) before arriving in Thailand to open a bank account.
