How can a British tourist open a bank account in Thailand without facing difficulties?

no they're not! I have a Bangkok Bank account and my local branch closed. I wanted to open an SCB account as they were next door but they wouldn't do it , even though my partner has an account there and I had an OA visa and the residential paperwork from immigration.

and if you do find one they charge double. Pattaya is the place to go for visa agent . They also can arrange bank account .

correct , Chaiyaphum immigration now require this.

What should I do if my hotel hasn't provided the TM30 after returning to Thailand on a retirement visa?

Chaiyaphum immigration now require you to do a new TM30 every time you re-enter the country, (even though my address hasn't changed for 5 years).

They also give you a new 90 Day slip for your passport at the same time. This changed on my last entry in October.

if you use the bank app on your phone and do a "Cardless ATM" withdrawal there are no out of province fees. I do that when travelling (Bangkok Bank)
