yes, you can transfer with Wise or another option of you like to a Thai bank and then refill as you go from your US bank. That's what many do.

credit cards with a chip are contactless and there is no more risk than any where else in the world. I use mine every time I go to 7-Eleven or anywhere I can because I get 3% back on international travel charges.

You will find Wise is best at getting your money in Thailand. Have you tried just calling them. I think you will find that you didn't provide the necessary online verification documentation they require. You can also send it via email, with an additional photo verification to follow your initial access.

I purchased a throw away ticket while waiting to board my flight after hearing the gate agent asking people to show an onward ticket. Search onward tickets, they are very inexpensive to nearby Asian countries. I just showed the agent the reservation on my phone.

I read what the Elite Visa provides and it isn't much more convenient

I payed also to get my visa and if I pay the same for 10 years or even 20, it will still be much less than the cost of an Elite Visa.
