I had a good system going for years. I would mail everything to Portland a few weeks before zi was finished fishing in Alaska. Return address Seattle. When I got back either had single or double 60 day tourist. Depending if spring or fall trip. Did a Visa run in the middle. Then Portland stopped doing multiples and now walk in only. LA wants to see return ticket . That's was not practical. We never know we are done till we fly out of Dutch harbour. Portland didn't need a ticket. This was the main reason I changed to retirement with multi re entry
But coming back on the old one in September. No problem at the airport with 2 passports. Go to the embassy after the airport, set the ball rolling. Then when the new one is ready come back to BKK and move the stamps over
I go back to the US in a few weeks . You mean get the new one before I leave? I think is takes a week or two to issue the new one that may be a problem to schedule
Yes the other possibility would be to get the new passport in Bangkok at the US embassy after I arrive . But it probably would mean 2 trips to Bangkok. Well the first one could be done when I arrive
