Would it be a problem to get a 90 day Non O visa in a new passport, while the 1 year extension of stay is still valid in my old passport which expires June 2020 . There would be a 6 week overlap

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about obtaining a new 90-day Non-O visa in a new passport while their old passport, which contains a valid 1-year extension of stay, is still active. A comment suggests applying for a new extension in June 2020 and transferring the existing visa to the new passport.

Why not apply for a new Extension of Stay in Jun 2020 and transfer this current stamp into your new passport?

One last question. Usually my wife picks me up at the airport and we spend a few days in Pattaya visiting friends before heading to the house in Phetchabun. Can the visa be moved to the new passport at Pattaya immigration? This is where the extension wa,s issued Then do the renewal at our home immigration in Phetchabun in Dec same province as the TM 30 will filed

Ok that's a lot better plus will simplify the business of the TM 30 when I get to the house and not knowing the details of the new passport. In fact I would have no passport for 18 days or so . Thanks for your help. Answered a lot of my questions
Robert *******
no, both to the immigration office and they transfer or wait a bit and apply for the new Extension which goes directly into the new passport

So arrival in Bkk with a new passport but the extension in the old invalidated one isn't a problem?
Robert *******
new passport is a new passport, does not matter where you get it from as long as it is from your Government and not from the shop in Khao San Road.

Ok . That's the bit I misunderstood

I thought it could not drop below 400 k anytime after 1 March 2019 and my expiry in Dec . Thanks for clearing that up . What's your opinion on the new passport. BKK after I arrive or US before ?
Robert *******
The dip below 400.000 Thb does not change anything as it is not a requirement for your current Extension. Only people applied for an Extension of Stay based on over 50 years of age and using the bank money AFTER 1 march 2019 has this requirement.

.Ok so being below 400k during the existing one wont affect the new one ? Also Tod recommended I renew my passport in BKk as soon as arrive ,then as soon as I get it move the Visa over ,then when the renewal is due ,it will be going on a brand new passport not one with 6 month left . Getting the new passport in the US beforehand and I'm up against the 2 passports at immigration on arrival. Renewal in BKK was my original plan but . I assumed the dip below 400k changed everything

funds up to 800.000 Thb around Sep 18 is more than 2 months before application for new Extension of Stay, after than date take care your bank account and you're good for one year

Came in on Sept 18 2018 on a Non O . Got the extension in Pattaya 23 Sept but effective from Dec 23 2018 to 2019. Current passport expires June 2020 . Bank account is below 400 k just now . Will wire funds around Sept 18 to get it back above 800k. At sea fishing just now

@Robert ******
Doesn't it mean he is not yet under the new rules (effective 1st March 2019) and the dip below 400k won't apply to his current extension. He only needs to have the 800k in his Thai account 2 months prior to his next extension.
Robert *******
i'm lost, Extension of Stay finish on Dec 23, this means you applied for this Extension around 23 Dec 2018, for a new Extension of Stay you have time enough to put 800.000 Thb 2 months prior application date on a Thai bank account in your name, after application make sure the 800.000 Thb stays in that account for minimum 3 months and the rest of next year not under the 400.000 thb

I have used the Thai Consulate in Portland OR for over 15 years mail in and in person, it's a 3hr drive from Seattle. Original plan was to come in on the old passport then renew at the US embassy BKK then transfer the 1 year over until Dec 23 then renew it for another year . However I have a bit more time in Seattle in Oct to get a new passport and the dip below 400 k for a while I cant renew it even tho it will be back over 800k 2 months before Dec 23 2019

The present 1 year extension finishes on Dec 23 2019 . I plan to be in Thailand from Nov 1 or so until Jan 8 . I'm also mulling over the 5 year 500k Elite card later prob when I return to Thailand in April . IE roll a 90 day Non O into an Elite in July 2020

normally your old passport should be invalid after getting a new one, the Extension of Stay stamp must be transferred to your new passport. If you apply for a new visa next year it is to the leniency of the Thai Consulate staff where you apply to ignore the 6 weeks left on this Extension of Stay.

The 800k baht fell below 400k during the year due to an unexpected emergency and I was unable to wire funds being at sea .
